547 reviews since 2007, spread across seven platforms, and the story barely changes: technicians who quote a price before touching anything, then explain what they did. Castle Electric Inc. is a Norwood electrical contractor, and on Google — where most of that record sits — it holds 4.9 stars from 771 ratings. Its Massachusetts electrician license (16191) is verified active with the state, and the Better Business Bureau grades it A+. The company works with a rotating crew customers name by first name — Jessica Connolly, Matt, Chris, Josiah, Jack, Brian, Alex. A February 2026 review describes Josiah and "the owner Jim" both coming out to scope a project and go over price before Brian's crew handled the rewire. The recurring detail across years of reviews is a quote before the truck starts working and an explanation once it's done. In a 2023 review, a homeowner described Castle replacing every wire in a 99-year-old man's home and installing a new panel within two days of a total power failure, with the wiring inspector remarking on the quality of the work; a 2025 review described the company restoring a home's power overnight after a knocked-over telephone pole took out its electrical connection. Recent work leans heavily on EV chargers and panel work — expanding a panel for a charger, replacing outdated components, adding recessed lighting, fixing outlets and breakers. Most of it earns five-star reviews for showing up on time and explaining the job, but pricing is where the complaints cluster: two recent one-star Google reviews call the company too expensive for small jobs, one citing a $1,200 charge for two outlets. A 2024 review described a more specific miss — an EV charger left configured for 40 amps instead of the requested 48 and never activated, so the homeowner finished the job himself. A June 2026 Reddit commenter who has hired Castle several times put it more mildly: mostly a good job, but always one small thing left undone. Castle looks set up for the full range of household electrical work, from a quick outlet fix to a full panel replacement, with a crew customers ask for again by name. Get a firm number in writing before the truck rolls, especially on EV charger installs or panel work, where the pricing complaints concentrate.
“* Castle Electric. We've hired them a few times as they mostly do a good job, but they always end up doing *one* (small) thing that irks us.”
“I ended up going with Castle Electric out of Norwood for my last need (ceiling fan installation x 3). They were able to come out fairly quickly and did a good job.”
“Easy to get ahold of. Showed up when they said they would. Worked fast and did what they said they would do at the price they quoted. Super easy to work with and friendly too!”
We had an electrical power issue with a recently installed dishwasher. Jessica came in and quickly diagnosed the problem ( under the sink) and was able to correct the issues and get everything up and running. She did a great job.
Our experience with Castle Electric was overwhelmingly positive. Matt and his helper Rob were punctual, efficient, polite — a pleasure to deal with them
