143 Google ratings averaging 4.9, and the word that keeps surfacing isn't paint — it's prep. Pressure washing, shutter removal, scraping, protecting new trim: the CertaPro crew out of Andover gets its best reviews for what happens before a brush touches the house. This is a locally owned franchise of CertaPro Painters, a national brand that dates itself to 1992, working residential and commercial interiors and exteriors from Brickstone Square in Andover. Angi's profile puts the local operation at 14 years. Houzz carries it at 5.0 from five reviews with Best of Houzz Service awards for 2023 and 2024. Eighty reviews spread across five sources since 2021 make this one of the deeper records in the area, and the tone barely wavers. A customer this July described a process built on clear explanations and straightforward pricing from the estimate through the finish. On the commercial side, an April client had a quote back quickly and their branding matched to the exact Pantone. Homeowners over the years describe crews that show up on time, work full days, keep quiet, and clean up every evening. The caveat worth taking seriously is coats. A homeowner this April got a quick job at a fair price but found sections that could have used a second coat — something never discussed in advance — and an earlier customer raised the same issue in stronger terms after work on their exterior was handled by a subcontracted painting company rather than CertaPro's own crew. Both complaints point at the same seam in the process: what exactly was priced, and who is actually holding the brush. So make the estimate specific. Ask how many coats of primer and finish are included on each surface, get it written into the contract rather than assumed, and ask directly whether your job will be run by their crew or subcontracted out. Confirm the daily schedule and the prep sequence too — that is where this outfit's strongest reviews come from, so hold them to it. For a full exterior repaint on an older house that needs real scraping and washing before paint, or an interior job where you want the process managed rather than improvised, this is a solid choice with a long track record behind it. Just nail down the coat count before you sign.

Exceptional Quality, Complete Transparency Certapro Painters exceeded my expectations from start to finish. Their process is one of the most professional and transparent I've experienced. Every step was clearly explained, the pricing was straightforward. The quality of the work was outstanding. When items came up that needed to be addressed that were not initially requested such as parts of the outside of the house, there was flexibility in adding these items. I would absolutely use them again.

The team did a nice job in a quick period at a very fair price. It's worth proactively discussing the number of coats of paint to be used. There were some sections of my house that could have used two coats, but we didn't even discuss that in advance. I would also say there were some communication and delay issues around getting some of the carpentry associated with the job completed.
