Cicoria Tree and Crane Service has been cutting down trees in Beverly since 1981, and the crane is the through-line: reviewers keep describing jobs a smaller outfit couldn't touch — a lightning-struck tree pulled down the morning after the strike, a huge ash lifted out from between a house and the power lines, a wooded lot cleared tree by tree at a per-day rate instead of nickel-and-diming each trunk. Mark Cicoria runs the family-owned operation, and its site lists TCIA accreditation and an ISA board-certified master arborist on staff. The company says it's been family-run since 1981; its BBB profile lists a slightly earlier start date of 1979. Either way, it's decades in, with 317 ratings averaging 4.9 on Google and an A+ BBB grade despite not seeking BBB accreditation. Recent reviews describe a crew that explains its approach before starting, shows up with a crane and finishes big jobs in hours, and leaves the site cleaner than it found it. Several customers mention using Cicoria repeatedly over a decade or more, calling the pricing fair and the responsiveness consistent. It isn't spotless lately. One recent customer described a multi-week wait and a confusing back-and-forth over paperwork before canceling the job entirely, and another left a vaguer complaint about how the company communicates and is managed, without giving specifics. A review from a few months earlier described a stump-grinding charge that came in above the original quote, plus a police-detail fee the customer hadn't asked for — worth asking about upfront if the job needs road access or permits. For a homeowner staring at a tree that just came down in a storm, or one that needs a crane to get it out safely, Cicoria's history backs that up: they've handled the hard, awkward removals for over 40 years, and most recent customers still say so. Get the quote itemized — permits, police details, stump grinding — and confirm how soon they can actually get on the schedule before assuming next-morning service is typical.

Very long wait time, confusing process, was told someone would come in to do the job in 2 weeks only to find out there's another proposal I need to sign or something then another 2 week wait just to make an appointment, canceled this service

Outstanding experience. One of the nicest group of professionals. Took the time to explain how they’d approach the project and then did a great job. Highly recommend Cicoria Tree & Crane!

We'd hire Cicoria again in a heartbeat. They worked swiftly and efficiently to remove numerous trees from our wooded property, which was not without its challenges. Price was per day (versus per tree), and very reasonable considering how much they got done (more than we expected). We're very happy with their work, especially now that the house and yard get more sunlight (what a mood booster)! They also cleaned up after their work, and even made heavy branches that had fallen weeks earlier disappear. We highly recommend them for tree work!

Our very tall tree was struck by lightening and posed a danger for us to be in the house. They moved their schedule and took the tree down the next morning. Pros all around!
