City Sealcoating

Seventy-five Google ratings averaging 4.6, and one job dominates almost all of them: a driveway sealed, quoted quickly, and back in service inside a week. City Sealcoating is an asphalt-maintenance shop — sealcoating, crack sealing, paving repairs, line striping, sports surfaces and winter snow removal — working the Merrimack Valley, Greater Boston and southern New Hampshire by its own account. Its site puts the company at about ten years in the pavement trade, and Keith Chaney is named as its owner. The City of Boston's certified-business roster carries it as a Minority Business Enterprise, and the company describes itself the same way. The commercial half of the book is the part a homeowner rarely sees and probably should. Property managers and small apartment-building owners keep reappearing in the reviews — one wrote in June 2026 that as a property manager she "could not imagine using anyone else", and another said they own a few buildings and have kept City Sealcoating as their provider for years. On the residential side the praise clusters tightly on two things: the estimate comes back fast, and the schedule holds. A 2021 customer described a cut-and-fill repair with hot asphalt for a large crack and a sinking spot, finished with a full reseal, and credited Rebecca in the front office with getting them onto the calendar through bad weather. There is a countervailing thread, and all of it is two years old or more. A July 2022 reviewer wrote that the crew sealcoated their driveway "in less than 20 minutes", prepared the surface poorly and coated it sloppily; when the office was contacted, the owner said they did not have to pay. In April 2024 a homeowner with roughly 3,000 square feet of driveway called the June 2023 job "a big mistake". And in June 2024 someone waited all day for an appointment nobody kept, with no call or text either way. The five most recent reviews, running through June 2026, look nothing like that. Sealcoating is mostly a preparation trade — how much time the crew spends cleaning and cutting before the coat goes down is most of what the money buys — so the questions worth asking are precisely the ones those complaints point at: what prep is included, how long they expect to be on site for a driveway your size, and what the remedy is if the finish isn't right. For a routine residential driveway, or a parking lot on a maintenance cycle, this is a shop with a long and mostly steady history, and one that clearly does more work for buildings than for houses.
