In an October 2025 Google review, a customer said they called Clark's Eastside Scrap in September 2025 about recycling metal from a renovation, were told the pricing was online, and ordered a 30-yard dumpster for $350. They loaded over 5,500 lbs of copper pipe, electrical wire and cast iron, which was picked up on September 27; two weeks later, with no payment, someone named Lacy told them website prices do not apply to dumpsters and everything is paid at $0.04/lb. Clark's Eastside Scrap is a scrap metal yard at 1181 Eastern Ave in Chelsea, Maine, and holds 3.9 stars from 23 Google ratings. Its website says it crushes cars and will travel state-wide. In a June 2026 review, a customer described a paved yard for ferrous and non-ferrous metal, a loading dock for non-ferrous around the height of a pickup's tailgate, and room around the drive-on scale for a large trailer. A July 2026 reviewer said the yard pays fair prices and the crew is friendly and helpful. In an October 2024 review, a first-time customer said prices were some of the best in the state. In a May 2026 one-star review, the reviewer said their car was weighed, they threw their scrap in the pile and waited inside, and then the guy came in and said it was only worth around 11.60 and not worth the cost of writing the check, and refused to pay. A September 2025 reviewer trying to have a car scrapped and removed said the owner does not have a tow truck and they never got a call back. In a June 2022 review, a customer said the owner treated them badly and the yard was full of glass and bolts.
Clax east side scrap is a great place to dump all your unwarranted. Scrap metal. They're located in Chelsea, Maine. And pay fair prices. The crew. Is very friendly and very helpful and usually well unload your scrap load.
Good people to deal with. they try to help whenever they can. Great yard for ferrous and non ferrous. all paved, no mud. non ferrous can usually be unloaded onto a loading dock right around the height of the back of a pickup, no carrying into a building to go on a small scale. lots of space around drive on scale as well, makes maneuvering a large trailer very easy.
My car was weighed and I was directed to throw my metal scrap in pile. I waited inside for some time. The guy came in and said it was only worth around 11.60 and not worth the cost he would have to write the check?! So, he REFUSED TO PAY ME!!! I contacted the police- but they said, though reports have been made about here before, you have to file a claim and go to court with a filing fee! This yard is thieving and rude- DO NOT GO THERE!
My dad goes there and Mr Clark is very nice and he knows my dad
Clark’s Scrap Metal — where honesty gets scrapped too. I called them in September 2025 about recycling metal from a renovation. The person I spoke with said all their pricing was online — so I checked their website, saw fair copper and wire prices, and ordered a 30-yard dumpster for $350. We loaded over 5,500 lbs of copper pipe, electrical wire, and cast iron. They picked it up on September 27. Two weeks later, no payment, no call. When I finally reached someone named Lacy, she told me that the prices on the website don’t apply to dumpsters. Everything — even copper — gets paid at $0.04/lb. Four cents. Nowhere on their website does it say that. When I pointed that out, she basically admitted they couldn’t make money if they paid what they advertise. So instead, they just don’t. We lost thousands because they never disclosed this. If they’d told the truth upfront, we’d have brought the metal ourselves. Instead, they pulled a bait-and-switch after the fact. No wonder they’re growing fast — it’s easy to expand when you’re profiting off deception.
