Clayton McKay is a Plymouth-based outfit that's grown into the kind of company customers use for plumbing, heating, cooling and even electrical work under one roof. The scale of the record makes the case on its own: 4.9 stars across 255 Google ratings, 210 written reviews since 2023, and 51 more in just the last six months. The company's Massachusetts plumbing license is active, verified against the state registry. The thing reviewers keep pointing to is speed on the days it matters most. A review from the weekend before Memorial Day described the company stepping in during an emergency with everything, from estimate to install, going smoothly. In a February 2026 review, a homeowner called during the busiest week of winter with frozen pipes and got a technician out within a few hours. Several other accounts describe same-day or next-day service for leaks, no-heat calls, and dead air conditioners. Beyond speed, reviewers describe technicians who take the extra look. One customer, now renewing an annual contract for a third year, described a technician catching a warranty-covered issue during a routine inspection simply by not rushing through it - the kind of catch that would have meant a miserable summer if missed. In a 2023 review, a homeowner with badly outdated, hard-to-access piping described a team of plumbers working through a job with zero access points and keeping the original plumbing intact where they could. Several reviewers describe using the company for years - one for six years straight, another switching to them after a longtime plumber retired. The record isn't spotless. A January 2026 review described a gas burner repair that didn't actually fix a no-heat problem: after the tech "cleared air in the line," the heat still didn't work, a follow-up visit blamed an unrelated staffing issue, and the reviewer says no one called back before a bill arrived. An October 2025 review described a faucet repair that went the other way - the technician disassembled the fixture, said a replacement was needed without saying so up front, and left the reviewer with a leak that was worse than before and no way to shut off the water. A few other reviews, including one from May 2026, called the pricing higher than other plumbers, and one described being asked for full payment upfront before any work started. For plumbing, HVAC, or electrical work in the Plymouth area, this is a large, well-established operation with an active license and an unusually deep, mostly strong record - worth going in with a clear understanding of pricing and payment terms up front given the handful of accounts above.
I had an emergency water leak from my water tank and a technician was sent out to my own The technician was experienced, professional and friendly he explained what needed to be done and my agreement to the plan
The service was prompt, professional, and complete. Two hours after I called them indicating that I had a leak in my bathroom someone was here. It was somewhat complicated in that the leak was coming from an upstairs bathroom. However, Rob was able to diagnose the issue, especially since it potentially involved, shutting off the water to my entire condominium building. He was able to track the leak to a relatively innocuous problem within my unit, so we did not need to involve the whole building. As of yet I have not received the price, but the promptness and the professionalism displayed makes that a very distant second consideration to using this company
I have have had a very positive experience and now renewing my contract for a third year. The brilliant tech Adam found an issue with my system because he is thorough and doesn't rush through inspections. It was covered under warranty, but I would have had a miserable summer if he hadn't been alert. Adam trained Kim and together they make a great team. In an emergency, the response is immediate! JP fixed a problem today and did a great job!
Nick was timely and very knowledgeable. He trouble-shot our AC unit and listened to our description and ultimately resolved the issue. In addition we decided to take advantage of the annual maintenance program available through the company.
I got a same day appointment which I very much appreciated. Andrew and his assistant were very capable and knowledgeable. They solved my issue with a gas stove very quickly and efficiently. They also checked all the connections for leaks. I highly recommend Clayton McKay plumbing.
