"I only regret that I have but one basement for Crack-X to fix," one homeowner wrote this June — an odd thing to say about foundation work, but it captures how this North Andover office's Google reviews read this year. Crack-X, doing business here as CRACK-X of Merrimack Valley, is a family-owned foundation-crack-repair and basement-waterproofing company that traces itself back to 1985, when it started under the name Poxy-Crete; the company describes itself today as family owned and run by Peter Gormley, owner of the parent company, New England Waterproofing, alongside sister offices scattered across New England. The jobs that keep showing up in reviews are specific: a rusted or failing bulkhead door swapped for a new Bilco unit with the surrounding concrete rehabbed, or a foundation wall crack sealed and backed by a 10-year warranty. The same names recur through this year's Google reviews — DJ, Doug, Jakob, Ava, David — praised for showing up on time, walking the homeowner through the plan before starting, and finishing a bulkhead or crack job in a single visit. One customer who'd hired the crew four times across two different homes pointed to that warranty as the reason repeat business made sense; another called the whole process, from the initial inspection onward, "seamless" and said the technician didn't try to upsell work that wasn't needed. Across 70 Google ratings the average sits at 4.8; a smaller, 61-review sample on Angi comes in at 4.4 — a rougher number pulled from a different crowd, but telling the same story of punctual, no-upsell repair work. The Better Business Bureau lists this North Andover office as an A+ accredited business, a status it has held since 2010, and the company states affiliations with several New England building-trade associations alongside its masonry-restoration work. One thing worth sorting out before booking: Crack-X operates as a shared brand across several New England offices — Natick, Merrimack Valley, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Maine, and Rhode Island among them — so confirm you're reaching this specific North Andover crew rather than a same-named office elsewhere in the region. For a bulkhead on its way out or a foundation crack that needs sealing, this office has more of a paper trail behind it than a typical single-source listing — years of Google reviews, a separate Angi rating, and a BBB accreditation held for over a decade. Get the warranty terms in writing and confirm which office is sending the crew, and the rest of the record holds up.

I needed a new bulkhead door for the building. CrackX responsiveness was excellent, communication was top. The steps were very clear and straightfoward and everything happened as described. The technicien did an excellent job and I now have a beautiful buikhead. Couldn't be happier.

We hired Crack X to replace our basement Bilco metal door and rehab the surrounding concrete. Dealing with them has been an extremely positive experience. We received a very detailed scope of work as part of their quote which for me, is a strong positive. The installer, DJ, was very punctual, professional and skilled. We are more than pleased with his work. Trust that we will recommend Crack X should the opportunity present itself. Chris & Linda R.
