Twenty-two original wooden window sashes, restored for an 1850s home: that is the job a 2025 Google customer described from Dave at CrateCrafts Fine Woodworking. That 2025 customer said Dave first walked them through what needed to be done with one sealed-shut double-hung sash four years earlier, and that he kept the vast majority of the original wood, blending new materials into the old where repairs were needed. The same 2025 customer said Dave mentored them on the work they took on themselves. A 2025 customer who needed a groove cut in a wooden lamp post for the Romex said the other woodworking shops they called did not want the small job, and Dave did it quickly and reasonably while they waited. A 2025 customer thanked Dave for help with a home project. A 2022 customer praised Dave's window sash restoration. On Google the shop holds 5 stars from 6 ratings, and its BBB grade is A+.

Everyone is welcoming there and the environment has nice energy. Also shoutout to Dave for helping me out with my home project, great quality work from him!
I wholeheartedly endorse Dave and his shop, CrateCrafts Fine Woodworking. I first met Dave four years ago, when I naively began removing a sealed-shut, original double-hung sash in my 1850s home—without any idea what I was doing. A quick Google search led me to CrateCrafts, and Dave patiently walked me through what needed to be done with that first window. Since then, he has fully restored 22 original wooden sashes for me. Two key points to highlight: 1. Dave is a true expert and a great guy. He has generously mentored me throughout my restoration project, offering invaluable guidance by sharing his deep knowledge on the peripheral work I have taken on myself. 2. His work is exceptional. Dave is a perfectionist, equipped with a meticulously organized and extensive workshop. The restored sashes I’ve received reflect his attention to detail and commitment to excellence. While preserving the vast majority of the original wood, he has made them look better than I imagine they did when first built 170 years ago. Where repairs were needed, he seamlessly blended new materials into the old—truly remarkable craftsmanship. I highly recommend CrateCrafts. Dave exemplifies the highest standards in woodworking and restoration.
After giving up on a project involving simply cutting a groove in a wooden lamp post for the Romex for the lamp, despite the advise and tools given by friends,I called all the woodworking shops around. I mean almost every one. No one wanted to do the small job. Then I called Dave and he said " Sure, I can do it"! And he quickly and reasonably did an amazing job while I waited.. Nice to know there are guys like Dave out there. Highly recommended. And he has a beautiful shop with some amazing machines.
