One customer nicknamed him "The Professor" — for the spreadsheet showing the date and duration of every stage from demolition to final walk-through. That is the thread running through everything written about Creative Custom Carpentry: Rick Vincuilla plans the job on paper before anyone swings a hammer, and clients keep saying his proposal was the most detailed of the bids they got. He runs the Bellingham business himself and writes his own website in the first person. Before this he spent 22 years at architectural firms, which he says gives him a sense of balance and proportion on each project. Both his Massachusetts licences check out against the state registry: the home improvement contractor registration and the construction supervisor licence are active, held in Richard Vincuilla's own name. The work described by customers is remodeling more than trim work — full kitchen gut renovations, master baths, finished basements, a second-floor build-out — with finish carpentry as the signature. A 2016 client had cherry cabinets and an oversized soffit darkening a large kitchen; the write-up covers two hours of scoping, a task-by-task priced proposal, working with granite and tile vendors the homeowner had already chosen, and hours spent hunting down two doors that matched the existing design rather than replacing every cabinet door. Another 2016 review, for a basement built around a nine-foot antique pool table, credits the barnboard-wall suggestion and a low ceiling left open and painted flat black. A 2020 client had crown moulding and wall panelling put in and noted he was the only bidder of five to bring physical moulding samples and multiple drawings. Several mention daily clean-up and a 7:30am start. The caveat is age and reach. Every written account sits on Houzz, and the newest is from December 2021 — a 5.0 across 23 ratings, but a record that stops nearly five years ago. BuildZoom holds no reviews at all and shows one sampled permit, a 2016 kitchen remodel in Framingham. Houzz lists the service area as Bellingham alone. Worth calling if you want a remodel planned in writing before it starts and finish carpentry that shows. Ask for recent references and confirm he still covers your town, since neither is something the public record can currently tell you.
We worked with Rick to renovate our kitchen. He was amazing from start to finish. He is professional and knowledgeable. He was in constant communication with us throughout the project. His work is beautiful! We are so happy that we found him and highly recommend him!
We worked with Rick from Creative Custom Carpentry to install Crown Molding and Wall Paneling in our Dining Room and Stairwell. Rick was one of five estimates we received for the work. Two words come to mind, when thinking about Rick and the work he performed (A) Partner (B) Professional. Partner: Rick truly partnered with us on this project. He was the lone vendor to bring samples of the various molding options we could select from. He made two trips to our home to ensure he had a full / complete grasp of that which we were looking for before drafting a detailed quote. He also developed multiple iterations of drawings to illustrate what the finished product would look like – to ensure it was exactly what we were interested in. Professional: Rick was in constant contact throughout the entire process. In addition, when on the job-site, he was here every morning @ 7:30a. and when wrapping up for the day, he was sure to clean-up. Rick and Creative Custom Carpentry was truly interested in ensuring we were satisfied with his work (and we were). As Rick’s work was finish carpentry, it is what everyone will see when they enter the home, as such Rick was meticulous in his execution of the project. You know, you are satisfied with someone’s work, when you are already discussing your next project before they have even finished the one they were currently working on – as we did with Rick from Creative Custom Carpentry.
We couldn't be happier with our bathroom remodel and the meticulous work preformed by Creative Custom Carpentry! Very professional all around. Rick provided a very detailed contract, and kept us updated with any changes or adjustments that might need to be made as the job progressed, right to the very last day. Moving forward, we won't have anyone other than CCC do work in our home.
Rick and his crew are great. They have completed several projects for us. The last project was a custom master bath that required expanding the master bath into the previous walk-in closet and relocating the walk-in closet. The master bath is breathtaking with its steam and regular shower, large free standing tub, radiant heat in the floor, new windows, crown moldings, vanity and freestanding linen closet. You have to see it to believe it. We couldn’t have had a better designer/master carpenter.
After 40 yrs. celebrated Christmas in our newly renovated basement with our new furnace. Generator, central air, new windows! Whose house is this? Great renovation! Rick organized everyone and supervised them all. He kept in constant touch as we were not in the house for three months. Happy, happy, happy.
