Curtin Brothers Oil

Nine straight Google reviews, one after another, praise the same thing about this Halifax fuel company: they show up when they say they will. Curtin Brothers Oil is a family-owned heating oil and diesel delivery business Tony, Lyn and Jason Curtin run out of Halifax, delivering fuel across the South Shore and Southeastern Massachusetts since 2007 — a business Tony and his wife started after his brother Shaun, who had served the area's fuel needs since 1979, passed away. It's a member of the New England Fuel Institute, and for actual oil-burner repair and service, it refers customers to other local heating companies rather than doing that work itself. On Google, 28 ratings average 4.7 stars. In a 2021 review, a longtime customer said they had been “my fuel guy for years, always prompt delivery” with “competitive prices”; a 2022 review described a courteous, professional experience finding a supplier that accepted fuel assistance; and a 2023 review credited the company with delivering on time as scheduled with “top tier customer service.” The one sour note: in a January 2025 review, a prospective customer said they were turned away because Curtin wasn't accepting new customers at the time, and wondered why a business would turn away paying work. Worth knowing before calling: the company has, at least once, paused new-customer signups, so it's worth confirming they're taking on new accounts before counting on them. And if what's actually needed is oil-burner repair or maintenance rather than fuel delivery, Curtin refers that work out to other South Shore heating companies rather than sending its own techs. For dependable heating-oil or diesel delivery in Halifax and the surrounding towns, this is a small family operation with a long, consistently positive delivery record — just confirm they're accepting new customers, and ask who to call for burner service.
