Dalene Flooring Carpet One sells and installs flooring, and the company says it has been in business 77 years. Its website lists carpet, tile and stone, hardwood, laminate and vinyl flooring, along with hardwood refinishing, custom rug fabrication and floor warming. It names Manchester, South Windsor, Enfield, West Hartford, Torrington, Southington and Hartford as its service area. A recent customer who stopped into the Southington, CT store with pricing questions said Katerina explained the installation process, pricing and product options without pressure, then scheduled an in-home measure. A 2022 customer said Rob came out the next day to estimate carpet for three bedrooms and praised the installers' work. A 2023 customer thanked Kendall for installing vinyl plank flooring, and the same customer thanked Jessica Lamesa at the Torrington location for coordinating a bathroom floor renovation in which the old tile floor was removed and a new one installed. A 2024 customer wrote that the floors looked beautiful several months after the installation. A 2024 Reddit commenter on r/Connecticut mentioned fair prices and quality installations. Its BBB grade is A+. Getting a price is the sore spot. A recent customer said a tile pricing visit, an unanswered follow-up email and a second trip to the store produced only rough per-square-foot numbers and no written estimate. A 2025 customer said an employee took measurements for hardwood and tiling, but no quote arrived after three calls, and the customer went with Colonial Flooring. A recent customer said the company ordered the wrong size flooring, almost 1,200 square feet, and it was never fixed. A 2022 customer said ordered floors took four visits to finish and praised the installers but not the sales team. Connecticut lists its home improvement contractor registration, HIC.0507458, as active, held by Dalene Flooring Carpet One.
“Dalene flooring. Great company to work with, fair prices, and quality installations.”
They ordered the wrong size flooring. Never got fix. Almost 1200 Sq ft of the wrong flooring. I just try to ignore the floor now.
Unfortunately, I had very disappointing experiences here on multiple occasions. I initially went in looking for pricing on tile for a fairly straightforward project. Instead of being able to get basic information, I listened to a lengthy explanation about how difficult and time-consuming their system makes it to price individual tile samples. The salesperson explained that the process had become so frustrating that they avoid the tile room and had even expressed frustration to the sales reps about how difficult it is to provide customers with pricing. Eventually, I was given a price of approximately $15 per square foot for tile, not including install. Throughout the interaction, there was also a lot of discussion about how incredibly busy they were, how difficult it was to keep up, tariffs, and other challenges they were dealing with. I can certainly appreciate that businesses are busy and that pricing has become more complicated, but as a customer, the entire interaction left me feeling as though helping me was an inconvenience. I followed up by email the following week and received no response, so my husband made another trip to the store hoping to finally get enough information to make a decision. Unfortunately, the experience was much the same. He was told they didn’t have time to put together a quote. After continuing to ask for at least some ballpark figures, he was eventually given rough numbers of around $8 per square foot for tile, $10 per square foot for installation, and an estimate of $3,000–$5,000 for the heating component alone. There was no written estimate, breakdown, or explanation of what that figure included, which made it difficult to know how seriously to take the numbers. At no point were we expecting someone to spend hours designing a project for us. We were simply trying to determine what the materials and installation would reasonably cost before deciding whether to move forward. After multiple in-person attempts, questionable pricing, and an unanswered email, getting even a preliminary quote felt unnecessarily difficult. More than anything, it was the overall attitude that was disappointing. When someone is considering spending thousands of dollars with a business, they shouldn’t be made to feel as though asking what the project will cost is an unreasonable request.
I stopped into the Southington, CT Dalene Flooring carpet one store this past Thursday because I had questions about pricing after getting a quote from a contractor that didn't seem quite right. Katerina (I hope I spelled her name correctly) was incredibly knowledgeable, professional, and took the time to explain the installation process, pricing, and product options without any pressure. She answered all of my questions, scheduled an in-home measure, and made me feel confident that I was in good hands. It was a very refreshing experience, and I left feeling much better informed. Great customer service! I would definitely recommend stopping by if you're considering new flooring or just truthful information.
I had a great experience with Chris my sales representative. He was very knowledgeable, professional and kind. There was so much to choose from and he helped me make the right decision. The carpet looks beautiful in my home not to mention the exceptional quality at a great price! I highly recommend Dalene Flooring….you will not be disappointed!
I called and set up an appointment for an estimate for new hardwood and tiling. An employee came out and took measurements, but I never received a quote. I called Dalene three times asking for the quote and they said it was forthcoming, but they never sent it. Waiting for their quote delayed our work on the house. We ended up going with Colonial Flooring and were pleased with their service and work.
