One customer account, and it dates to 2015 — but it is a specific one. A homeowner who hired David B Sexton for a six-month gut renovation of a Charlestown brownstone condo wrote in December 2015 that owner Dave Sexton was on site every day, that the job landed two weeks past the promised finish, and that his subcontractors came back afterward when small things needed fixing. That single account is the written customer history on BuildZoom, where the Wakefield company's page averages 5.0 from that one rating. The permit trail runs deeper. BuildZoom counts 54 permitted projects for the company, largely Charlestown and wider Boston residential renovation work, several of them six-figure jobs. That is the footprint of a general contractor running whole-house projects rather than a repair outfit. On licensing, take the page only as far as it goes: BuildZoom lists Massachusetts construction supervisor licence CS-085808 as active, and separately lists a home improvement contractor registration, #140705, as inactive. Those are the directory's own entries, not confirmations, and the home improvement registration is the one to ask about — it is what covers non-structural residential remodeling in Massachusetts. This suits a homeowner planning a substantial renovation in the Boston area who is willing to do their own reference-checking, since the written customer history here is a decade old. Ask for recent client references, current licence and insurance certificates in the company's own name, and — given the one job on file ran two weeks long — how they handle schedule slips once a gut renovation is underway.
Typical Greater Boston range for this kind of work, from regional averages — not a quote from David B Sexton Construction. Use it to sanity-check bids, then get the real number in writing.

Sexton Builders was the most extremely reliable contractor I have ever worked with. They are honest, do high quality work and help you thru the process. They did a 6 month complete gut renovation of my brownstone condo in Charlestown, MA, they finished the project only 2 weeks later than promised and were onsite every day. Dave Sexton the owner, was there every day, and is the most reliable person I have ever known in the trades. He takes tremendous pride in his work and was extremely sensitive to knowing that I was happy with the job and his work. All of his sub contractors were nice as could be and so helpful even after the project finished when I have needed things tweaked or fixed. He is also extremely trustworthy, there are no games. He's there at 7 am everyday, and does not leave until the end of the day, never leaving his crew alone on your property.
