Dependable David Reliable Handyman Service holds a 5.0-star average from 46 ratings on HomeAdvisor and a 5.0 from 46 ratings on Angi. Its own website calls it David's handyman service and says no job is too big or too small. Its BBB grade is an A+. A 2022 customer wrote that David came in after a previous contractor "made a royal mess of the job and had to be fired." That 2022 customer said he mudded and painted a large room and an entire kitchen, installed 491 feet of natural Hickory baseboard molding through their 2-story house, and framed, drywalled and mudded a new hall closet. The same 2022 customer said he bills by the hour and shows up himself to do the work. In a 2014 review, a customer described a kitchen remodel in an old house: he removed old cabinets with lead paint, stripped and installed drywall, re-insulated, did all the trim and moulding, installed new cabinets and laid a new floor. A 2014 customer said he repaired a 20 x 20 foot roof that fell in, reusing as much of the old structure as he could to keep the cost down. A 2013 customer said he built a new entryway into their old house along with a new landing and stairs. A 2016 customer said he did difficult drywall repair work on textured ceilings. A 2015 customer said they hired Dave to replace a set of interior stairs and that he arrived and ended on schedule. A 2013 customer said he stuck to his estimate and charged less than quoted based on his time and materials.
I suppose that if you call yourself "Dependable" right in your name, you have to live up to it, and Dependable David definitely lives up to it. First of all, he answers the phone and gets back to you. Sometimes, this is to tell you that he has no room in his schedule to take on your task. But at least he gets back to you to let you know. And if he does commit to doing work for you, he's there when he says he'll be there. He also does good, solid work. And he listens carefully to what you're asking him to do. If you ask him to be extra neat when painting, he'll be extra neat. If you ask him to tape everything, he'll tape everything. He bills by the hour, so this allows him to be more careful or take extra time to do something just right, if you ask him to. He doesn't need to rush, because he bills by the hour. He also doesn't farm out the work to a bunch of different guys. He shows up himself and does the work. In our case, he ended up swooping in and saving the day after our previous contractor made a royal mess of the job and had to be fired. So far, for us, he has done: --Mudding and painting a large room, including high ceilings and stair wells. --Mudding and painting an entire kitchen. --Installing natural (unpainted) Hickory baseboard molding in our entire 2-story house (including applying polyurethane to the molding before installing). This was an absolutely gigantic job (491 feet of molding), with so many cuts and corners, including some tiny detail areas where the new molding had to mate with existing woodwork (like around the staircase). --Framing, drywalling, and mudding a new hall closet. He also sourced the door for us. In this case, he only had one free day in his schedule, but he didn't over-promise, and told us that he would only have time to frame/drywall and do the first coat of mud (I would have to finish sanding, mudding, painting, installing the door, and trim myself). And he did exactly what he said he would do. All of this work has been great in terms of quality. David is also a friendly guy. He's fun to talk to. And he seems like the kinda guy you can trust in your home. But most of all... he's dependable!
We hired David for several small projects around our older home. His quotes were extremely reasonable, showed up on time, very professional and offered great advice. All work was completed on time and looks fantastic! We highly recommend him and would hire again in an instant!!!
David is dependable, reasonable, and very easy to work with. He recommends the most cost-effective approach and gives great value in return for a very fair price. He did some very difficult drywall repair work on my textured ceilings. The result far exceeded my expectation. He is very good at his craft.
Dependable David was professional, knowledgeable, clean, on time, and great with recommendations on other projects around the house I need to get done. I will definitely be calling him for the other things on my TO DO list.
He is very clean worker. He cleans up after everything he does. Listens to what you want and accomadates you. Will definatlely use again!
