DiIorio Landscaping, LLC's website describes trenching for gas, electrical, water and landscape lighting lines, plus back-fill. It lists Darien, Easton, Fairfield, Greenwich, Norwalk, Redding, Stamford, Weston, Westport, Wilton and New Canaan as its service area, and the company says it has been in business 34 years. A 2025 customer said Phil showed up the same day after a decommissioned drywell caved in, gave a price the customer called very reasonable, and had the work done within 48 hours of the call. That 2025 customer said Phil made sure the finished area matched the soil and mulch of the surrounding flowerbeds, and that his team left no marks on the lawn despite hauling 7-8 tons of gravel across it. A 2025 customer who had botched sitework from a previous contractor said Phil investigated the root of the problem before starting work or giving a proposal, and said Phil works on the jobs himself. A 2024 customer said Phil and his crew trenched and buried a 1,000 gallon propane tank without the heavy machinery disturbing the yard. A 2023 customer said Phil helped pick the location for a 500 gallon propane tank on a site with a lot of ledge, which ended up on a slope, and excavated for the tank and a generator. That 2023 customer said Phil placed large boards down to catch what was dug up and brought in topsoil to grade the slope, and that they coordinated with the customer's electrician, the city and the gas company. A 2023 customer whose land was prone to flooding wrote that nearly two years later, through record amounts of rain in the Fairfield County area, they no longer flood.

Finding Phil was a godsend. We had some botched sitework done by a previous contractor and took a leap of faith calling Phil, who I found on Google. From the start, I was immediately impressed with his knowledge, professionalism, and overall demeanor. Phil spent an enormous amount of time with me, asking all the right questions and doing his own investigating to get to the root of the problem before even starting work or providing a proposal. He personally works on the jobs himself—he doesn’t just “send his guys”—and it’s clear he is a master of his craft. We feel incredibly fortunate to have found him. Beyond his skill, Phil is a kind and generous human being who did an exceptional job at our home. We plan to use him and his team for many more projects moving forward. Phil, we appreciate you more than you know. Thank you for everything you’ve done for us. If anyone is looking for an honest, reliable, and trustworthy excavator, Phil is without a doubt your guy.
I can’t speak highly enough about Phil and his team. A previously decommissioned drywell on my property decided to cave in (lucky me), revealing a large hole which needed to be backfilled quickly for safety reasons. I called Phil to help and he showed up same day, provided a very reasonable price for the job and had the work done within 48 hours of my call. Without being asked to do so, he went the extra mile to make sure the finished product blended in perfectly with the surrounding flowerbeds: matching the soil / mulch etc. His team also somehow left no marks whatsoever on the lawn despite hauling 7-8 tons of gravel across it. Genuinely a very high quality team: responsive, ethical and easy to work with. Highly recommend.
Phil and his crew did the cleanest trenching work and burial of our 1,000 gallon propane tank you could possibly imagine. The yard was not disturbed by the heavy machinery and their spade work was golf-course-careful. Strongly recommend Diiorio Landscaping!
I like to write reviews after several months or even a year after I have had work done. The "Does it stand the test of time" approach before I write a review. The land my house sits on was prone to flooding due to the previous homeowners not taking care of it. Diiorio Landscaping & Excavating came highly recommended. I have to say DL&E does pass the test of time approach. Nearly two years later, as well as record amounts of rains have hit the Fairfield County area, we no longer flood. Drainage is beautiful!
We hired Phil Diiori to excavate everything required for the installation of a generator and burial of a 500 gallon propane tank. We had a particularly challenging site due to the enormous amount of ledge, and ultimately the only viable site to bury the propane tank was on a slope. Phil had a lot of knowlege about what would be required--depth of tank, trenches for electric, etc. He helped us determine the best location. Phil was onsite with his crew, making sure that everything was done as discussed. He even placed large boards down to catch what was dug up in order to preserve as much of our lawn as possible. He also brought in topsoil to grade the slope in order to show as little as possible of the tanks lid. His crew was super helpful and they too did excellent work. They coordinated with our electrician, the city and the gas company. I would highly recommend them. Overall it was an excellent experience, and who can say that when one's yard is being dug up! They left the site in great shape.
