Dirfy Generators is a Limington generator business; a local paper quoted owner Bob Cyr saying the company covers all of Windham and Raymond and most of Maine. The company says it has been in business for 47 years, and its website advertises a free basic 9K BTU heat pump installed with the purchase of a 26KW generator, limitations applying. A 2025 customer with a low voltage failure on a whole house generator said an emailed request got a response later that day. That 2025 customer said the generator was repaired that week, followed by a detailed communication outlining the work. A 2024 customer with a service agreement said the generator died after about 2-1/2 days of continuous run time in the April 2024 Nor'easter. That 2024 customer said a technician determined it was dead, no full evaluation or cost estimate followed, and Dirfy stopped answering phone calls. A 2024 customer who caretakes a property said calls and messages went unreturned and a technician found nothing wrong with the generator, which a couple of weeks later was shutting itself off. A 2024 customer said they had been without their generator since a storm, after a branch took out the feed line, with several calls and emails getting no response. A 2023 customer said a technician sent to a brand new Briggs and Stratton generator did not have the computer needed for an update, so another visit would have to be scheduled.

Typical electrical project around $820
“Covering all of Windham and Raymond and most of Maine, helping people is the essence of what the company does, says Bob Cyr, owner of the Limington-based Dirfy Generators business.”
I recently experienced a low voltage failure on my whole house generator. I had tested for the “basics” with no luck, so I knew I was out of my league technically. I sent an email to Dirfy that weekend expecting I’d be lucky to hear back from someone in a week. I was shocked to receive a response later that day, and even more surprised to hear “We can send someone out this week.” The generator was repaired that week and I received a detailed communication outlining the work that was done. Outstanding communication combined with excellent and caring customer service. I can’t say enough about how happy I was to do business with Dirfy and I’d recommend them highly.
I have always known manning was an issue with this company, but they were at least reliable. We had a service agreement, and I really thought that if an issue were to arise they would have my back, it looks like I was mistaken. The Nor'easter that hit Maine in April 2024, took out my generator after about 2-1/2 days of continuous run time. The odd thing was my generator had it regular maintenance completed only 1 week prior. After the storm, I contacted DIRFY to evaluate and fix the generator. They dispatched one technician who looked at it and determined it was dead. Never did I get a full evaluation, cost estimate for repair or replacement. I have an open Home owners insurance claim, but I need paperwork to submit. Dirfy no longer answers my phone calls. I will replace this generator at full cost to myself, but will never again do business with Dirfy.
Apparently this business has gone downhill fairly quickly. They came highly recommended but they don't answer their phone and they don't return phone calls or messages. Front of house doesn't seem to know how to keep track of phone calls and who to call for service reminders etc. I recently had a call for a place I caretake for and they were supposed to call me when the technician was on his way so I could meet him and they did not. The tech said there was nothing wrong with the generator and then again a couple weeks later it's burping out propane shutting itself off after it retries repeatedly for the exercise. It doesn't work, nobody's called me back in over a week pretty unimpressed so far considering at my own house I have a very nice Kohler generator as opposed to the Briggs& Stratton they sold my clients. My generator doesn't ever fail and I can take care of it myself. So something's up with this company. I would highly advise to think twice before engaging with this company. Nothing but frustration so far. Will review this post if they improve
We have been without out generator since the storm. A branch took out the feed line. We have made several calls and emails with no response. Not a good way to run a business. We signed up for their service and they never call back. Not happy
Update 9/4/2025: Well here we go again! Serviced on 8/26/2025 lost power early this morning and low and behold a generator that starts but doesn't run anything in the house with an alarm saying L2 Phase Over Voltage! Have called twice already, left 2 messages and as of yet no response! What does DIRFY stand for?? It sure isn't what we were sold on when deciding to go with this company! If I could give zero stars I would, I hope all of the employees and the owner enjoy the warmth of their homes while again the issue of a very expensive piece of metal sits in the yard at my home not functioning during another upcoming snowstorm! Who runs a service driven company without having parts on hand to correct these issues? To me that does not say "service"! Disappointed that a service tech sent to problem solve a brand new Briggs and Stratton generator, came without all of the proper equipment necessary to address the issue. A brand new piece of equipment that would not stay running longer than an hour during the most recent power outage in Raymond. My mother was informed it needed a computer update but he didn't have the computer to provide these updates. He let it run a couple times and basically said it runs, but they would have to reschedule another visit for the updates to be completed. He then left my nearly 80 year old mother to fend for herself if the power went out again. Also, providing no contact information in case she did have another issue. Oh, and all the people/numbers provided just go to VM. Believe me I do realize it's the holidays but at what point is this situation ever okay! Oh, and did I mention when this first happened they blew her off to go to other calls only to again blow her off today! This so called "service call" was pointless. I hope someone makes this right! Signed the angry daughter!
