DOC Painting, working out of Holbrook, has built a name on the fussy, old-house jobs that make other painters nervous — 180-year-old wood shingles, original trim in an 1860s home, decades-old paneling. Reviews describe owner Dan, often working alongside Patty and Derek, walking homeowners through the specifics of restoring old materials rather than just repainting over them. Across 13 Google reviews, every one five stars from 2022 through 2025, the specifics repeat. In a 2023 review, a homeowner describes Dan explaining the tradeoffs of staining old wood shingles rather than just painting them, and working within their budget. A 2022 review describes four rooms, two hallways and a staircase repainted inside an 1860s home, with 'Patty' meticulously addressing wall and trim imperfections before painting began. Another 2022 review, about a back deck, stairs and bulkhead, describes the crew working through rain, cold and wind delays while still communicating plans clearly at each step. The company's own site lists historical restoration, cabinet refinishing, deck staining and color consultation alongside interior and exterior painting, and states it is 'Historical District Approved' — worth knowing if a project needs to clear a historic commission. A 2024 review also mentions a program giving an American flag to veterans with every exterior job, a value the company states about itself rather than something reviewers independently verify. Angi doesn't yet show any reviews or a license number for the business, so most of what's known here comes from its Google history. DOC looks like a solid call if a house is old enough that a straightforward repaint isn't quite right — worth asking upfront how rotted or worn original material gets handled, since a couple of reviews describe that surfacing mid-job.

Dan did an amazing job on my deck beautiful I'm very happy with the outcome. Thanks again!😊
I met Dan the owner 5 years ago or so since then I've chosen his company for my painting needs. Witnessing the growth has been a testament to their commitment to quality and values. The heartfelt work they do for the veterans is deeply impressive. The team presents an American flag to every exterior they do using it to donate to those in need. It's truly commendable and speaks volumes of character. Thank you Dan Patty and Company.
I had a fantastic experience working with DOC Painting. My 180 year old home needed a facelift and I was very nervous about adding a colored stain onto the wood shingles. Dan educated me about the benefits of staining wood shingles and he worked within my budget. The house looks stunning and I’m so happy with the work. Dan and Derek answered all my calls and are very professional.
Dan and Derek were amazing. I had an old paneled lower level and they worked their magic. I was all over the place with colors and ideas and they were super patient with me. The end result was better than I ever imagined. Can’t wait for my next paint project to have them back!!
Dan & his crew were great! Quality work, family business, and the flag was a an extra bonus! We will use DOC again without a doubt
