Pellet stoves, wood stoves and chimneys are the jobs at Don's Stove Shop, which says it has been in business for 40 years and lists a service area running from Livermore and Jay to Farmington, Rumford, Lewiston and Bethel. A recent customer said Hunter picked a date for a chimney installation, they called the day before to confirm, and they stuck to their schedule. A 2025 customer who had burned pellets in the same QuadraFire stove for 20 years said that after 21 winters their pellet stove showed corrosion in the heat exchanger tubes and needed replacement, and thanked the shop for delivering and installing a new QuadraFire. A 2025 customer said Hunter in the office helped them pick a Vermont Castings stove, and that at the end the installer explained every detail and gave suggestions for its use. A 2024 customer said Don's relined their home's old chimney and installed a Vermont Castings stove despite challenging weather. A 2022 customer said Don and his team installed a gas fireplace insert, and when it stopped working, Don and his son came over within two days and took care of the problem. A 2022 customer who took estimates from three companies said the pricing was very fair. In a 2021 review, a customer described a pellet stove that quit on Thanksgiving: a vacuum switch, then an exhaust temperature sensor, and after three weeks without it working, the hopper door sensor, found once the stove went back to their shop. That customer said it had been running for a little over a week since. One 2023 account went badly. That customer said a few feet of their older home's chimney toppled to the ground during an install, that neither the salesperson nor the installers detected a problem until the damage was done, and that after months of phone tag they learned the company did not have the expertise on staff to handle it and had to find a different mason before winter.
