Driveway Specialists

A driveway that had not been repaved in forty years. A corner lot with one on each street. A non-profit's lot in Framingham. A steep decline that needed new drains before anything could be laid over it. Driveway Specialists has been taking that kind of work out of Natick since, by the company's own account, 1988. It runs as a family job. Wayne Small takes the sales calls, his sons Eugene and Roger are named again and again by customers, and an August 2025 client said a family member oversees each driveway. An April 2026 customer said someone from ownership was on site at every stage of theirs. What customers describe is a full teardown, not a surface coat. A May 2026 homeowner had the old pavement taken up, the site re-graded, a new gravel base laid and fresh blacktop on top, and said the problem corner that used to collect rainwater drained afterwards. A July 2025 customer described day one as ripping out the old asphalt and hauling it away before the subsoil was levelled. In September 2022 another listed the phases separately: removal, regrading and compacting, a crushed-rock foundation layer, a cobblestone border, then paving. The masonry side matters here. One May 2026 customer picked them specifically because they would lay decorative pavers and the asphalt, instead of hiring a paver crew and a paving crew. In May 2024 another had the walkway, the apron in front of the garage, the wall beside the driveway and the catch basin all put right in the same job. In March 2024, a steeply pitched driveway got new drains and pavers set to run toward them. Speed comes up often. A brick driveway was removed and asphalted in two days in November 2025; a large driveway was paved within three days of the first phone call in December 2024. Several customers say the quote came in as the lowest or most competitive of several, and a September 2025 reviewer said Eugene's estimate spelled out exactly which materials and work it covered. Two accounts run the other way, and both are about what happened after the crew left. A November 2024 reviewer said a repair sank and became unusable after the first winter, and that calls to the owner's cell phone and messages on the main line went unanswered over four months. In September 2023, another said the bottom half of the driveway was done well while the top was left a mess that stopped their gate opening, and that they were first told to hire a handyman to sort it. A Reddit commenter in a March 2024 r/massachusetts thread said only that they were pleased with the company. For a full driveway replacement — teardown, base, drainage and paving, with pavers or masonry borders if you want them — this is a crew whose customers describe tight scheduling and owners on the job. Get the warranty terms and the callback process in writing before the first truck arrives, and settle in the contract who finishes the edges where the driveway meets gates, walls and beds.
