EJ Mechanical works out of Salem Street in Walpole, and what those permits describe is a gas and plumbing outfit rather than a remodeler: combi boilers, direct-vent furnaces, water heaters, and the pipe and venting that go with them. A 2023 Milton permit covers replacing a combi boiler and storage tank for $12,000, with a second permit filed the same day to connect the tank and boiler. In 2021 the company installed a combi boiler in Everett for $8,500, and in August 2024 it filed to connect gas piping and venting for two direct-vent furnaces in West Roxbury. A run of October 2020 permits at one Newton address covers water heaters, a cook stove, a dryer, room heaters and a washing-machine connection across two units. It works commercially as well — a rooftop 292,000 BTU gas unit in Malden in 2021, a commercial furnace permit in East Boston in 2020, and two 2018 alteration permits at a Watertown office building. Its one Marblehead job on record is a master bathroom renovation plumbing permit at Bradlee Road in February 2021. The licensing is what should give a homeowner pause. BuildZoom's own alert on the page says there is no active licence on file, and the four records it does print are all marked unverified or inactive: a plumber's licence it last saw expiring in May 2024, a plumbing corporation registration and an unnumbered plumbing partnership record both carrying a May 2016 expiry, and a City of Newton plumbing contractor registration shown cancelled. Massachusetts requires a current licence for gas and plumbing work, so ask for the number and check it with the state's e-licensing board before anyone touches a gas line. Nobody has written a review of this company anywhere. If you call, get the licence number, a certificate of insurance, and the name of the licensed plumber or gas fitter who will actually pull the permit.
