A puff of smoke out of a living-room outlet is the kind of call Elite Electrical Solutions gets. In a February 2025 review, a homeowner described catching it out of the corner of an eye, calling Rich at Elite in a panic, and having him come out immediately and service the outlet so it was safe and no longer a fire hazard. Richard Schell runs the company from 22 River Street in Braintree, and the Better Business Bureau — which grades it A+ without accrediting it — records the business as starting in 2006. The work customers write about is residential and mostly modest. A May 2025 reviewer said Rich showed him the problem with an old doorbell and chime and why it wasn't working, explaining as he went. An April 2025 customer had lighting installation and additional electrical line work done at home. A February 2025 reviewer who had just bought a hot tub and "didn't have a clue as to what was needed" said he took care of everything; another that same month had Rich and his team do the electrical for a redone family room after several earlier projects. In January 2024, a customer finishing a basement remodel wrote that the city inspector asked who had done the work. The company's own site adds panel upgrades, smart home wiring and EV charging. Behind those accounts sit 4.8 stars from 39 Google ratings, 4.9 from 98 on HomeAdvisor and 4.6 from 99 on Angi. The written HomeAdvisor accounts are older, running 2014 through 2019, and many of them turn on response time and punctuality. One from March 2014 is the shape of it: an exhaust fan that wouldn't run, a morning call, Rich there by 12:30 as promised, and a tripped switch he found in about three minutes. Scheduling is where it goes wrong. A December 2024 one-star review described an appointment texted for Monday between 1 and 3 PM, with nobody there and no call or text by 4. A 2022 one-star reviewer wrote of an incorrect diagnosis and being non-responsive: "Call 10 times and you get a call back once. Its a one man show and never on time, so you cannot plan around the promises and commitments made." HomeAdvisor's profile also flags a November 2015 review about an unexpected $186 charge with no pricing established upfront. Elite suits the small, urgent residential job — a scorched outlet, a hot-tub circuit, a panel upgrade, a run of lighting. Fix the appointment window and agree the price before anything starts; that is where the unhappy customers say it came apart.
