F & D Salvage

F & D Salvage describes itself as a family-owned recycling center in Millbury, MA. By its own account, the family has supported Central Massachusetts through demolition, salvage and recycling for over four decades, and it reports 40 years in business. In 2023, telegram.com reported F & D Salvage as the demolition contractor for a parcel, and said it reinstituted a rail spur with CSX into the site so it can truck all the debris off by rail. A 2026 review says they pay the most cash for scrap metal. Another 2026 customer calls the staff great and the prices extremely fair. In a 2026 review, a customer who needed a small piece of metal for work wrote that other local places would sell nothing smaller than a full sheet, and that someone at the desk went out of his way to cut a piece for a reasonable price. In a 2025 review, a customer of 5 years or more wrote that a slip had mistakenly switched their light and heavy iron, costing around 27 bucks, and that on a later visit the cash was waiting in "an envelope with my name on it." In a separate 2025 review, a regular wrote that another yard paid poorly for 2.25 tons of what should have been #1 steel, "like I always get for the same material at F&D." There are complaints about grading. In a 2026 review, a customer wrote that the yard paid their brass only as yellow brass even though it was in separate buckets, and that a replacement slip came out even less than the original. Another 2026 review says: "They don’t know what dirty aluminum is." In 2018, turtleboysports.com reported that police recovered manhole covers from F&D Salvage in Millbury, where the suspect sold them.
