The two newest Google reviews of F & S Electric are both one-star, and both are about how the company handled a homeowner's house. In a July 2026 review, a customer who booked an attic knob-and-tube inspection through the company's portal and expanded it to a whole-house inspection says the first inspector missed active knob and tube on the first floor, writing "No active knob and tube seen" in the notes, and failed to report ungrounded fabric wiring. The promised next-day estimate came only after the customer followed up 8 days later; a senior technician sent afterward also missed the fabric wiring until the customer insisted he pull an outlet. The customer says the process ran from late May into July, no second inspection report ever came, and management took no accountability. In a September 2026 review, a homeowner says F & S came in as a subcontractor, removed the furnace, then quoted four times what other electricians were quoting to reinstall it. The Bristol, Rhode Island company describes itself as family-owned and operated, serving Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts since 1987, with commercial, industrial, residential and fire alarm work. On the state registry, NH electrician licence 16143 is active, with Ryan F Souza as the holder of record. The company's site also lists License AC-004804 and MA License 9155-A1. The earlier accounts are warmer. In a January 2026 review, a customer who had used F & S for the better part of two years on a home renovation and addition and a renovation at their business named Ryan and his team as responsive, said Scott ran what they estimated as thousands of feet of cable for a 6-bed, 4-bath rebuild plus a warehouse, and said every inspector's report called the crew's work neat and tidy. That customer also mentions color-changing soffit lights for the holidays and custom-ordered glasswork lighting installed with care. In an August 2025 review, a customer said F & S was the first company they called that didn't charge just to give a price. A December 2024 Reddit post in r/RhodeIsland said F and S Electric "are really good". Google shows 4.7 stars from 26 ratings.
“F and S electric are really good”
They were brought in as a subcontractor on a project on my home - their guy removed my furnace then they had the gall to try to charge me 4 times the amount other electricians were quoting me for the job to re install it
I booked an attic knob and tube inspection via their portal, expanding it to a whole-house inspection upon arrival. The initial inspector completely missed active knob and tube on the first floor—even writing “No active knob and tube seen” in the first floor notes section—and failed to report ungrounded fabric wiring. Though promised an estimate the next day, I received zero communication until I followed up 8 days later. Due to the missed hazards, they sent a senior technician. He also missed the ungrounded fabric wiring until I insisted he physically pull an outlet from the wall. This process lasted from late May into July. I never received a second inspection report, only another estimate. When I raised these safety and communication concerns, management took zero accountability. The financial controller only defended the initial 8-day delay, and the vice president deflected blame onto me and onto their own employee. I cannot recommend a company that misses critical safety hazards and responds with defensiveness.
We've been using F & S Electric for the better part of two years as we underwent a renovation/addition project on our home and also an ongoing renovation at our business. Ryan and his team are great to work with. They are responsive and their attention to wiring detail is unmatched. Scott has had to run probably thousands of feet of cables for our home (rebuilding a 6 bed 4 bath in its entirety) and another couple of thousand for our warehouse and every report from inspectors has stated that his crew has made everything so neat and tidy that they can get in and out quickly with no concerns. Even if we came up with weird questions or requests (color changing soffit lights for the holidays) we had a response and suggestions fairly quickly and then on install we had the image that we wanted. We also had some delicate glasswork lighting that we had custom ordered and everything was handled with care during installation. Would highly recommend F & S for your electric needs!
This place is the bee's knees
F & S Electric was not the first that I called but they were the first who didn't try to charge me money just to tell me how much money they were going to charge me. They are prompt, courteous, professional and honest.
