In a December 2022 Google review, the reviewer said they had Joe build their house, that the work started in April with a promised October finish, and that by late December they still were not in. The reviewer wrote that there were many things wrong, that they had to refix the walls and outlets, that the company lied to them, and that he kept telling them to fix their attitude when they pointed out problems. Far Meadow Construction is based at 27 Dexter St Ext in Thomaston, Maine, and holds 3.8 stars from 13 Google ratings. In a January 2026 one-star review, the reviewer said they asked for a quote on a simple 4' x 8' wooden front porch with a gable roof to replace an attached sunroom, and received a quote of over $26,000; three other contractors quoted $7,000 to $12,000, and the reviewer went with another contractor. The reviewer also said they were told a company representative would need to supervise if someone else removed the sunroom. A February 2022 reviewer left an A+ for the service.
I contacted this company for a quote to replace an existing attached sunroom with a simple 4’ x 8’ wooden front porch featuring a basic gable-style roof. The sunroom is attached to the front of the house but is not structural to the home itself. I was clear from the beginning that the sunroom would be removed separately, either by myself or by another contractor, and that this company’s scope of work would only be to build the porch. Prior to any work, I was told that if the sunroom were removed by someone else, a representative from their company would need to supervise the removal to ensure it was done properly. I received a quote of over $26,000 for the porch. Based on the simple design, estimated material costs would be approximately $2,000–$2,500. While I understand businesses have overhead and operating costs, this pricing felt extremely high for the scope of work. To compare, I obtained three additional quotes from other insured and experienced contractors with strong customer reviews. Those estimates ranged from $7,000 to $12,000. I ultimately moved forward with another contractor at a significantly lower price. I would recommend that anyone seeking a quote do their due diligence and compare multiple companies to ensure they are receiving fair value for their project. I can’t speak to the quality of this company’s work, and they may price themselves as a premium provider. However, compared to other reputable contractors I consulted, this quote was substantially higher than the market range.
We had joe build our house for 200,00 and there were many things wrong. We have to refix the walls, outlets and just so much more. I wouldn't recommend this business. They even lied to us. They promised us our house would be done in October (they started in April) and now it's December almost January. And we aren't in yet. And he kept on telling us to fix our attitude when we pointed stuff out that was wrong.
A+ service Thank you!
