Fernandes Masonry is a large New Bedford masonry firm that four brothers started in 1997. It does brick veneer, concrete masonry, architectural precast and cast stone, mostly on commercial, education and municipal projects across Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut. An August 2014 South Coast Today article put its workforce at up to 120 at any one time, and BBB lists Victor Fernandes as owner. A March 2024 Architectural Record piece named it the mason contractor on Foundry 101 in Cambridge. In March 2008, South Coast Today reported it had joined an Extreme Makeover: Home Edition build for a Maynard family. The firm has a regulatory history. A violation tracker lists an Occupational Safety & Health Administration penalty of $9,041 against it, dated August 9, 2023. An October 2011 South Coast Today report said Fernandes Masonry and Victor M. Fernandes were fined a total of $15,000 for two violations. A May 2008 South Coast Today report said the company had filed a wrongful termination suit after S.B. General Contracting fired it in 2002 from the masonry work at the Fairhaven Recreation Center and Senior Center, and that S.B. fired it for very poor work. Its four written Google reviews, from 2021 to 2025, are all 1-star. In a December 2021 review, a driver said one of the company's trucks cut them off in Easton and damaged their car, and that the company later refused liability after first agreeing it was at fault. An August 2024 reviewer described a similar truck incident on Route 24. An August 2022 reviewer called its workers verbally abusive, and in March 2025 a reviewer said they saw one of its workers urinate in the middle of a parking lot across the street. The company holds 3.3 stars from 13 ratings on Google. The Massachusetts construction supervisor licence CS-097890, held by Victor Fernandes, is active on the state registry. The company is also certified by the Massachusetts Supplier Diversity Office as a Portuguese Business Enterprise.

“I was driving from New York to Rhode Island when one of their trucks cut me off on SR24 North, causing damage to my car. (License plate ending 467- red truck) I have enough evidence to prove this. After reading other reviews, it seems this isn’t the first time something like this has happened. I’m not sure why they’re hiring reckless drivers—imagine hiring the same people to work on your construction. It’s concerning.”
They are horrible and they’re workers are not professional at all instead they are verbally abusive and have no remorse for anyone
WORST COMPANY EVER. THEIR TRUCK CUT ME OFF IN EASTON CAUSING DAMAGE TO MY CAR. I HAVE DASH CAM , PICTURES, POLICE REPORT, REPORT TO ED THE PROJECT MANAGER, NOW AFTER 3 MONTHS AFTER AGREEING ITS THEIR FAULT THEY NOW REFUSE LIABILITY, THEY ARE WORKING ON THE SCHOOL PROJECT IN EASTON MASS SO PLEASE BE CAREFUL, THEY WILL DAMAGE YOUR PROPERTY AND NOT CARE.
