Ferrara Roofing & Contracting works out of Rockland and covers the South Shore and Greater Boston. Shayne Ferrara owns and runs it; by his own account he started the company in 1999 after summers roofing for his uncle, and the business has been going 26 years. Beyond roofs the company's own site lists siding, window and door installation, decks, masonry and skylights. The roofing work is what customers write about, and two things come through. The first is speed when something is wrong: in February 2026 a caller's 83-year-old mother had water coming into her kitchen from an ice dam, and a crew was at the house within an hour, cleared the ice, and the office followed up with instructions on preventing it. In June 2024 a homeowner who called about missing shingles was told a more serious problem had been found, and it was fixed on the spot. The second is that people deal with Shayne directly — a first-time buyer in November 2025 wrote that he came out soon after the first call, answered the questions and started promptly, and an April 2023 customer who had roofs done in South Boston and Quincy singled out Shayne and Mark for answering the phone or calling back. Work beyond the roof shows up too: in April 2026 a customer praised the whole project and gave extra credit for residing the dormers. A November 2021 review from Nantasket said houses Ferrara had roofed in the previous five years came through a nor'easter better than neighboring ones — one homeowner's observation, not a test. Google shows 5 stars from 9 ratings and Houzz 5 from a single one — small numbers either way. The Better Business Bureau grades the company A+ but it is not BBB accredited, and its Houzz profile lists license #89551, which has not been checked against the state registry here. If you are calling about a roof, ask who will be on site and who does the estimate, ask what the proposal covers for stripping, decking and disposal, and ask for the warranty on labor as well as on materials.
