Floor Magic is a flooring store in Rockport, ME, and its website calls it a Midcoast Maine destination for flooring, kitchens and baths. On Google it holds 4.4 stars from 32 ratings, and its BBB grade is A+. A recent reviewer, who wrote that they were hired by a Floor Magic client to fix a shower, said one of the store's contracted crews had left the tile floating on drywall with no framing and had glued a grab bar to the wall. A recent customer said the owner, Bob Duke, charged $300 per box for luxury vinyl tile plus $50 for shipping, and later found more of it online for $150 per box. In a 2025 review, a customer said a kitchen job covering floor, cabinets and countertops, scheduled for July 2024 to take three days, had taken more than a year, with uneven countertops and a lopsided dishwasher.
Lovely peoples v helpful. Well Stocked with alternative brands.
*WARNING* After going in to fix a TERRIBLE tile job contracted out by this store, I recommend never getting tile done by these guys. Ever. Their contractors did not properly frame a shower. We had to remove a few rows of tile to install studs because they had the tile floating on drywall, wich was not sufficnent for a glass door. No framing around the tile what so ever and they only went 1/2 up with their kurdi board. They literally glued a grab bar to the wall. I couldn't believe it when I took it off. This was as dangerous as it was lazy. *edit* to clarify, I was hired by their client. I was not a customer of floor magic, rather the person hired to fix their problem. It was indeed one of their crews that did this, contractractrd by the Rockport store and I believe based out of Augusta. Apparently they weren't exactly peaches and cream to deal with, so my client decided to fix the issue externally. I am posting this independently of my client out of pure shock at the terrible craftsmanship which I was hired to fix.
Found the luxury vinyl tile we were looking for (Mannington Adura Max) at Floor Magic, Rockport, ME, but the owner, Bob Duke, charged us 100% more than market retail-$300 per box then another $50 for shipping. I needed more tile and subsequently found it on-line at Floor City for $150 per box. We were really taken advantage of by Bob. Buyer beware, do your research first.
Beautiful new premium maple hardwood floors installed throughout our new house in South Thomaston. Bob and his floor crew were great (thank you, Alex and Craig). They met their tight deadline, as promised. And the work was excellent. Chip Davison of Davison Construction was excellent with some ancillary work and some inevitable mission creep. Thank you all very much.
A kirchen remodeling, floor, cabinets & countertops, scheduled for July '24, was supposed to take 3 days. It has taken more than a year. The installation of floors, countertops & cabinets was sloppy: countertops were uneven: dishwasher is lopsided and the cabinets are so much smaller than what I had that the dishes, glassware, pots& pans don't fit. The owner was a great salesman but his word was 100% better than his work my partner had to finish a ton of painting, filling in empty spaces between cabinets & ceilings and so much more. Believe me, I'm not one who enjoys posting bad reviews but FLOOR MAGIC ABSOLUTELY STINKS. Find anyone else, you'll be MUCH happier!!!!!!
