Flying Mammoths Landscape Design describes itself on Houzz as a Vermont-based ecological landscape design company that specializes in designing with native and edible plants. Its website says it has been in business for 22 years and offers gift certificates for landscape design consultations. A 2022 Houzz customer said Lizabeth produced a plan for a natural setting that supports pollinators, wildlife and birds, using what was already there and removing only what was necessary. That 2022 customer wrote that Lizabeth completed a seasonal stream and led a 2-day work party with the customer's family and friends on it. A 2018 Houzz customer said that, in a one-hour consultation, Lizabeth advised how to relocate a parking area to a safer, more accessible spot. That 2018 customer wrote that they then had parking right next to the house and a mud-free parking area that spring.
Working with someone as talented and dedicated as Lizabeth has been and continues to be a joy. She has responded to my longtime desire to be surrounded by a natural environment that supports pollinators, wild life, and birds (that also includes a robust vegetable garden!) with a creative, committed, and focused plan. Before I began working with Lizabeth, I thought I would need to rework my garden from scratch, but instead she was able to utilize what was hidden in plain sight, removing only what was necessary and saving valuable time. After carefully listening to what I wanted, she produced a workable plan that reflected what I have imagined for years while factoring in long-term solutions as well, including upkeep. Lizabeth is super knowledgeable and I find her expertise in native plants topography, soil heath, ground cover, streams, and ponds especially helpful (she has completed a seasonal stream for me, the first of several projects). Throughout the process, she was willing to educate me about the whole of my property with enthusiasm, and I so appreciated the time she spent sharing information in an understandable way about the many possibilities. This past summer Lizabeth led a 2-day work party with my family and friends to help with the stream, and they were equally impressed with her work, dedication, and what was accomplished under her friendly and careful watch. Working with Lizabeth is a pleasure and I am looking forward with great expectations for the next project. Thank you, Lizabeth! Roberta
After our first winter and spring in our new home, which found us older folks barely able to get to our house safely over an icy parking area some distance away, and then so bogged down in mud that one car had to be abandoned for two weeks when the mud reached mid-way up its hub caps, we were desperate for design help to relocate the the parking area to a safer, more accessible location that would still be attractive. In a one hour consultation Lizabeth was able to appreciate the challenges of our situation and advise how best to proceed. The result has been fantastic! We now have parking right next to our house and we had a totally mud-free parking area this spring; in addition, not only did we not sacrifice the aesthetics, but the changes in elevation have provided us with a new and much more attractive view of our house from the side.
