Fred Williams, Inc. has been incorporated in Massachusetts since 1936 — ninety years — and today it is the Greater Boston arm of something much larger. The company's own site presents it as one of four specialty mechanical contractors in the Equans MEP Services group, part of EQUANS North America, covering Eastern Massachusetts. The work is big-building mechanical, not house calls. BBB describes HVAC installation and service plus engineering services, with registered professional engineers on staff and around 50 employees. Procore's claimed profile puts the scale in numbers: 27 projects since July 2022 at an average project size of roughly $14.4 million, spanning commercial, healthcare, industrial, infrastructure, institutional and residential sectors. Then there is the star rating, which needs explaining. Google shows one star from four ratings — and every review is about how the company's trucks are driven. A June 2026 reviewer writes that drivers ignore crosswalks and taunt pedestrians. An April 2026 one describes a Fred Williams truck speeding and changing lanes in Portsmouth. A July 2025 review names a vehicle number, a plate and a time on Nahant Street in Lynn, saying the driver crossed into oncoming traffic to pass two cars. None of the three touches the mechanical work. BBB, separately, issues no rating at all, saying it lacks sufficient information. So judge this one on project history and references, not on a one-star average that is measuring fleet conduct. If you are a facilities manager or a general contractor, ask for recent comparable projects and for the engineer of record on your building type. If you are a homeowner, be aware this is commercial and institutional mechanical work at a scale most houses will never need — and if the driving pattern matters to you, it is fair to raise directly.
Again with the driving, they ignore crosswalks and then taunt the pedestrians. Truly unhinged do not hire.
Not sure who was Driving the Fred Williams truck in Portsmouth, but they were speeding and lane changing like a crazy person. Insanely unsafe and an embarrassment to the company they’re representing.
Dangerous Employees. One of their drivers, Vehicle 76, couldn't be patient with traffic on Nahant Street in Lynn and so drove into oncoming traffic in order to pass two vehicles. He almost crashed into my car. License plate: W99.304 - Date July 3rd, 2025 at 1 o'clock.
