On Angi, G Cooper Paving describes itself as a locally owned company serving Holland, MA, doing commercial and private drives. A recent customer says the company removed the old asphalt and replaced it with new, and that the crew worked efficiently. A recent customer says they worked all day removing a concrete driveway, added cobblestone edges and came back the next day to pave. A recent customer says the company showed up promptly for a small asphalt repair and did not charge for it. A 2025 customer wrote that the owner, John, gave a quote and measurements, but that the workers did a foot less of the driveway than was quoted; that customer said John offered to fill the area with stone rather than asphalt and had not been back in touch about the stone over a month later. A 2025 customer said John had planned to remove the existing concrete before paving, but the asphalt was put over the existing concrete instead. That 2025 customer said water puddled in several areas after rain the next day, the visit to redo the area was rescheduled four times, and the company then stopped responding. A 2018 customer said Gary paved the floor of their garage at a reasonable price. A 2017 customer said Gary recommended patching low spots and cracks and applying a sealer instead of replacing the driveway, and that the work was completed in the time he gave with no additional charges. A 2017 customer who hired G Cooper Paving to seal a driveway and fill the cracks said the cracks were never filled, the sealer was still not dry days later, and that when asked to look at it, he got very aggressive. In a 2019 review, a customer wrote that the work was not completed after a partial payment and that the matter was in litigation in court.
Did a very nice job removing the old asphalt and replacing it with new. The crew worked efficiently. We've gotten a lot of compliments on how the driveway turned out and would definitely recommend them."
These guys were fantastic they worked hard all day removing the concrete driveway we had and added the cobblestone edges then came back next day and paved. Our driveway is beautiful! Very professional and knowledgeable men
I had a small asphalt repair that needed attention, and this company went above and beyond. Even though it was a quick, minor job, they showed up promptly, handled everything professionally, and didn’t charge me a dime. It’s rare to find a business that values customer relationships over profit, especially for smaller tasks like mine. I really appreciate their generosity and professionalism, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone looking for reliable asphalt work. I’ll definitely be calling them again for future projects.
I went with cooper asphalt paving after seeing so many outstanding reviews, and meeting John. However my experience with the establishment was a rather poor and dishonest. To keep the review short, I will just highlight, that they were not honest with me and have stopped responding after agreeing to come back and resolve an issue. 1) Prior to installing my driveway, John had told me that they would remove the existing concrete pavement in order to install gravel and later place the asphalt over (which is typical). However when they started working (on 4/30) they changed plans and just put the asphalt over the existing concrete pavement (I implore you to do your research on this, as it isn’t typically advised). I wasn’t made aware of the change of plans until a friend saw what they were doing and alerted me. After calling to see what was going on, he explained that removing the existing pavement would be risky, and that it would take too long. (I am not aware at all of such a risk, and after they stopped responding due to the second issue exposing in bullet two, i have no reason to believe he was telling the truth. I can only guess they didn’t remove the existing concrete pavement because it would be easier). Moreover, removing the existing concrete is what we had discussed, how can one use “it would take too long to remove” as an excuse. 2) After they installed the pavement, it rained the following day and I noticed that the water was puddling in several areas (it is supposed to be done in a slope, so that the water goes out to the side and doesn’t sit). They came out and tested with running water themselves and agreed that it was an issue. Following that, we made an appointment for them to come back and redo the back area with the issue. The appointment for repaving was made on May 21st. However that date was pushed back every time I called back, for reasons including, John’s mother’s illness, bad weather, John’s vacation, etc. This was rescheduled four times, with the last being on September 3rd. Today is 12/31, and I haven’t received any response from them as they simply stopped responding to my emails, texts, calls. I am terribly disappointed as I went into the agreement with John in good faith, and did not expect to be treated like this after seeing so many great reviews. I have attached images of some exchanges and of the issue.
Initially we were very excited as John (the owner) had come and given us a quote, made measurements and recommendations that we agreed to. When the day came, the three workers (who are his sons) were extremely unprofessional in their interactions with me, as well as incomplete and subpar work. They did not communicate when they hit barriers in completing the driveway, and took it upon themselves to do a foot less of the driveway than was originally quoted. When I attempted to rectify the issue and have them complete the portion that was originally on the quote, I was yelled at and told I was a liar and not grateful. I was happy to pay more if that was the case, but his son (who I was speaking to who did the work) was incredibly unprofessional over the phone so I asked to speak to John again (which he was resistant to). When I spoke with John, he agreed with me that his sons were too inexperienced to take over and complete the work, but would fill the area that I needed with stone. I felt this still wasn't satisfactory as the preference would be ashpault, but he told me that was not an option. I have yet to hear from him about the stone and it's been over a month without further communication. Take the owners advice and don't allow them to touch your project as they are INEXPERIENCED. Go elsewhere! On top of that, they left the road a mess, their lines are not straight, worked the whole time at my house without shirts on and left all their gravel/pavement in my grass. Totally unprofessional.
