Gardening With Jenny

"Jenny has been my landscaper for years," a customer wrote in April 2024, and that repeat relationship is the shape of this business. Gardening With Jenny is Eugenia Tzonevska's one-woman garden practice, usually working with a single assistant — design first, then planting, then coming back season after season. Her Houzz, Angi and HomeAdvisor profiles describe site consultations, landscape design and garden plans, installation, and the restoration and redesign of existing gardens, plus balcony and interior gardens, herb and vegetable beds and lawn care. The Angi and HomeAdvisor listings put a master's degree in landscape architecture at the head of that list. The Better Business Bureau places the business at 49 Churchill Ave in Cambridge, grades it A+ and says it has been trading 15 years, though it is not BBB-accredited. Design draws the warmest accounts. In a May 2021 review a homeowner described her and her assistant designing, clearing and planting a front and back yard that construction work on the house had wrecked, and called the work efficient and thorough. The April 2024 Google reviewer praised her knowledge of gardening, her communication as the job went on, and her price. The complaints are all about money. Angi and HomeAdvisor show the same 4.3 average across 23 ratings spanning 2006 to 2021, and both note complaints about plant quality and value for money alongside the positive ones. One May 2021 review says only "Not worth the money I spent!"; a 1-star account from October 2017 describes a customer negotiating a price, then a helper doing the digging and planting while Jenny oversaw it. A 2018 customer hit the reverse problem and reported it warmly: the price she had quoted turned out to be lower than it should have been once she got into the job, because there was more yard waste to clear than she had allowed for. She fits a homeowner who wants a designed garden — bed layout, plant selection, a yard rebuilt after building work — and who means to keep the same person coming back each year. Settle the money question before she starts: ask for the plant list with sizes and prices in writing, and for what happens to the quote if the debris or the planting turns out bigger than she estimated.
