GDI Home Services is a Milton-based residential construction and remodeling company serving Greater Boston since 1996. The company says it handles whole-house renovations, additions, kitchens, bathrooms, consultations, project planning, and home inspections, and identifies Keith Pentland as the direct contact. The supplied customer record is small and dated. A March 2013 BuildZoom review about a master-bath remodel praised the subcontractors but criticized coordination, missed timing, repeated questions about orders, and an unfinished project that ran from October 2012 into February 2013. The public website also displays detailed testimonials describing successful renovations, communication, and on-time, on-budget work, but those are company-published testimonials rather than independently scored reviews. GDI states that it is a licensed Lead Safe Renovation Contractor and emphasizes occupied-home protections, dust control, daily updates, direct access to Keith, and completion within the agreed cost. BuildZoom lists a 92 score, 31 projects, and a verified-license badge; these directory claims should be checked with the relevant Massachusetts agencies. GDI may fit homeowners planning substantial renovations or additions who value a hands-on planning and construction-management relationship. Before hiring, confirm the current license, schedule, subcontractor coordination, payment milestones, and how the company will handle change orders and occupied-home protections.
“Contractor: Gdi Home Services”
We hired GDI to remodel our master bath in October 2012. It did not get finished until February 2013. We take some of the responsibility as we had added on more tiling work, but it always felt as those we were an afterthought. The subcontractors were excellent. It was the coordination by the contractor that left us feeling as though we were talking to a used car salesman. At one point he asked my wife if she liked the bathroom which wasn't even half done. We always felt as though, he was in a hurry to get this job over and done with, but then we were left hanging on several occasions because he couldn't get the subs in for a variety of reasons. Also, on many occasions he would ask me the same questions regarding orders we had placed. He must have asked me at least five times did we order the hardware for the vanities, among other things. I know he means well, but I would definitely not recommend him to our friends. Too scattered. Too disorganized.
