Soundproofing is not the line item you expect from a general contractor, but it keeps showing up in what Henry Scopa Home Improvement's customers describe. In October 2025 a Boston condo owner hired them to quiet noise travelling through shared walls and ceilings — a four-week job, with updates along the way. A month before that, a Norwood homeowner had the walls and ceiling of a newborn's bedroom done. The company says Henry Scopa started the business in 1991 and still runs it himself, alongside longtime partner Mike Bowie and his son Stephen, the licensed foreman, working out of Boston on remodeling, additions and new construction for residential and commercial clients. Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration, #184064, is active, with Henry Scopa as the holder of record. Their Google page carries 40 ratings averaging 5.0, and bathrooms show up repeatedly in what those customers describe: a small bathroom remodeled in December 2025, where the homeowner said the size of the job didn't change the attention to detail; vanities in two bathrooms and an exhaust fan in October 2025, after Henry helped settle the approach; a bathroom redo in August 2025 where the crew added finishing touches that weren't in the contract. In August a leaking tub came out and a standing shower went in — every tile "straight as an arrow", and three weeks on, no blemishes. The range is wide for a small crew. Kitchens run from a backsplash and countertop with the tile matched to the granite in May 2025, and cabinets refaced with new drawers in April 2025, to full remodels; a porch was rebuilt in May 2025 and rotted deck boards swapped out the same month. They also take the work most remodelers pass on — every door knob in a house, a hand shower and minor tile repairs, both in May 2025 — and when a house flooded this past May, Henry and Stephen fixed the damage quickly and, the homeowner said, stayed patient while she fought her insurer. As a June customer put it: "It is hard to get contractors who are generalists. The Scopa team will do it and do it well." The crew is small and hands-on. A July 2025 reviewer spelled it out: Stephen works the job directly with Scott, so the person you meet is the person doing the work. The written history runs long, too — a 2015 account describes sheetrock and plaster over painted brick walls, a rebuilt bathroom ceiling and wood parquet flooring. For an interior remodel around Boston — a bathroom, a kitchen, or a noise problem — this is a straightforward call. Get the finish details written into the contract before work starts, and ask about the EPA Lead-Safe certification their site lists if your house is old enough for it to matter.
Henry, Stephen and team did a great job replacing our leaking tub with a wonderful standing shower. They were very friendly, knowledgeable and highly skilled. Each tile is straight as an arrow and three weeks in we haven’t noticed any blemishes. We would recommend Henry Scopa Home Improvement for your next project.
Scopa home improvement are great to work with and responsive. We had a lot of minor maintenance work and not so minor work. It is hard to get contractors who are generalists. The Scopa team will do it and do it well.

These guys are the best! I was in constant communication with Henry and he was timely, courteous and professional. I didn’t feel like he was trying to low ball me or over price anything. I mostly respect these guys’ work ethic! I’ll be back for another project!
