Planting beds that had disappointed a homeowner became a cottage-style garden after Bob Hoxie modified the soil and redesigned the plantings. In that March 2015 Houzz review, the customer described healthy plants that did well beside a front-property arbor, and passersby who stopped to photograph the garden. Hoxie describes Great Hill Horticultural Services as his one-person landscape design and horticultural consulting business in Sandwich. The company says it serves residential, commercial and historic properties across Cape Cod and the South Shore, offering fine gardening, native and environmental plantings, and historic landscape restoration. Its website gives two different start dates: the About page says Hoxie began the business in 2009, while the homepage says it has offered landscape designs since 1999. Houzz lists an MA Certified Horticulturist credential. A February 2015 Houzz reviewer from an organization credited Hoxie with completing two major historic garden restoration projects. That reviewer praised his horticultural knowledge, collaboration with others, and oversight of budgets and deadlines. The organization said it maintained an ongoing relationship with him to steward its historic landscapes at the time of the review. Another homeowner, also writing in February 2015, described a landscape plan for the whole property, with the first phase focused on the front of the home. Overgrown bushes covering the porch gave way to a garden with traditional Cape Cod hydrangeas and other plants, with something blooming through spring and summer. The homeowner looked forward to a second phase in the backyard.

I called Bob Hoxie to help us with a couple of high profile planting beds on either side of an arbor at the front of our property. We had previously planted these beds and had disappointing results. He modified the soil and designed plantings that fit my request for an easy to care for, cottage garden feel. We are thrilled with the results. Passers by frequently stop to take photos of the garden and will comment to us on how lovely it is. The plants he selected do very well in that location and were healthy and strong. We would highly recommend Great Hill Horticultural Services.
Bob Hoxie provides the highest standard of creative design and meticulous execution in landscape projects with Great Hill Horticultural Services. He has worked on two major historic garden restoration projects for our organization, and successfully shepherded them to completion with impressive horticultural knowledge and skills, a gifted aesthetic sense, rock-solid reliable oversight of budgets and deadlines, and a useful level of pragmatism. Bob demonstrates a great facility in working in close coordination with others, and was a real asset for us in dealing with landscape issues as one part of more complex multi-layered projects. We continue to maintain an ongoing relationship with Great Hill Horticultural Services in stewarding our historic landscapes, and readily recommend them to others with fullest enthusiasm.
Bob Hoxie did an outstanding job of designing a landscape plan for my entire property, which I hope to complete over a couple of years. For first year, we concentrated on the frontside of my home. My home went from overgrown bushes covering my front porch to a beautiful garden with traditional Cape Cod hydrangeas and unique plants. What I love most is that there is always something in bloom throughout spring and summer. The garden greatly enhanced the curbside appeal too and my neighbors commented on what a difference the new garden has made. I'm looking forward to spring and new work on my backyard -- phase 2!
