Grenham Construction is a small Lynn roofing outfit — Edward Grenham, Eddie to his customers — working out of 285 Lynn Shore Drive across roofs, gutters, siding, chimneys and pressure washing. Porch puts it at 24 years in the trade, and Angi says the work goes back to 2001. What customers have written is thin, and it stops six years ago. Three Angi reviews from early 2019 are warm and specific enough to be useful: one homeowner said the gutters no longer leaked at the corners and the upstairs bathroom leak went with them; another found the quote came in under every other roofer they had asked, with an offer to come back if the roof gave trouble later. The fourth account is the one that changes the picture. In September 2020 a Porch reviewer wrote that Edward Grenham had taken a 50 percent deposit for their roof, had not completed it, and that they were looking into their legal options. That is one account and it is six years old — but an allegation of non-performance after payment is a different order of complaint from a scheduling gripe, and it deserves to be weighed as such. The numbers sit awkwardly against each other. Porch's profile shows 4.5 across 46 aggregated online ratings while the single review it actually displays is that one-star account; Angi's 5.0 rests on the three 2019 entries. If they're on your list, keep any deposit modest and tied to milestones, put the scope and a completion date in the contract, and ask for two or three references from work finished in the past year — the written history doesn't reach that far. For straightforward roof and gutter work around Lynn and the North Shore they may well suit; what's published simply doesn't tell you how they operate today.
