Ground Breakers renovated and restored our 260 year old Colonial in Litchfield CT and did an amazing job. So much so that our home won a Connecticut HOBI award for best renovation in Litchfield. Would hire them again in a heartbeat!

"From Trees to Keys"...our little cottage, built on weekends in 1948 with castoffs from the Peter-Paul Candy Factory in Naugatuck, was literally falling apart due to insect damage, damp rot, age...we purchased a log cabin kit home to replace it, not knowing what we didn't know about building. After several other quotes, I met with Lee, who very patiently explained some basics of building - such as, you can't construct a new home on a very old foundation of stacked cinderblocks! Lee worked with us, step by step, through hiccups in financing, building materials shortages (spring through fall of 2020; height of the pandemic), Tropical Storm Isiais, and immovable boulders in the crawl space area. Lee is a gem, tells you what you need to hear instead of what you want to hear, and bent over backward to ensure that we would be IN our new home (and out of the camper we were staying in on the property!) before winter. He is a man of his word, and these photos should speak for themselves.

Lee's attention to deail, professionalism and ability to break down the building process into simple terms that the homeowner can understand is fantastic. There were changes along the way and I felt that Lee was always looking out for the best interest of the project and not for his wallet. If you have the pleasure of having the decision of whether to hire Lee or another firm, think twice about hiring another firm.
