Herlihy Construction, LLC works out of Swampscott under owner Brian Herlihy, and its documented record is small but varied: an $80,000 exterior job in Hingham stripping clapboards for cedar shingles and swapping a rotted casement for a double-hung plus a new entry door; a $45,750 Marblehead renovation covering a new kitchen, a second-floor bathroom, an added primary bathroom, new HVAC and a new electrical service; a $35,000 engineered retaining wall with matching stairs; and a $15,000 PVC re-deck in Sagamore Beach. That spread — shingle siding, a whole-floor renovation, structural site work, deck resurfacing — reads as a small general builder taking whatever the job is rather than a specialist. On credentials, one thing needs settling before you hire. The company's Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration, number 201354, is held in the company's own name and the state shows it expired. BuildZoom separately lists construction supervisor licence CS-053006 for the company and says it checked it in June 2026, but that is the directory's claim, not a state confirmation — and the same page contradicts itself, asserting in its text that both records were active while its own licence block marks 201354 inactive and at one point cancelled. HIC registration is the one that covers non-structural residential home improvement and opens the state Guaranty Fund to a homeowner, so ask for it in writing. No customer has written about this company anywhere published, so there is no account of how any of those four jobs went. Worth a conversation for exterior work or a full-floor renovation on the North Shore, provided you get the registration question answered and ask for two or three recent addresses to call.
