Hirsch and Son Handyman Service is a father-and-son team based in Pelham, taking on the range of jobs a handyman company typically covers -- deck building and repair, pressure washing, painting, small carpentry, and hauling away junk and old furniture. The business carries a run of five-star reviews everywhere it's rated: 5.0 stars from 21 ratings on both Angi and HomeAdvisor (100% five-star on each), and 5 out of 5 on Google as well. In a 2022 Angi review, Dustin and his father took on a full deck project -- reframing to pass inspection, laying Trex decking, and installing railings and a gate -- and finished it within the week they'd promised. Other reviews describe the same pattern going back to 2020: a chicken enclosure built to an unusual request and finished on budget, a bureau and bed carefully moved and dismantled, a hundred-year-old house's carpentry quirks worked through patiently (a 2025 review), and a basement renovation the following year that fit into a tight schedule at what the customer called a reasonable price. Fair, transparent pricing comes up again and again across the reviews, as does showing up on time and sticking to the schedule given. There's no negative account on file to weigh against that. With a compact but consistent history across five years and two platforms, this reads like a small operation that has kept its word on price and timeline on every job it's been reviewed for -- worth confirming current availability, since a small family crew's schedule can fill up.
I have hired Hirsch and Son have been working on my house for a while now. They simply are the best and they get the job done. I own a house that's over one hundred years old, and that comes with some challenges. Older carpentry techniques, materials and a slew of other challenges. Hirsch and Son was able to identify these techniques and challenges, and work around them. They have done work in my attic building a walkway connecting one side to the other, so that work could be completed by other contractors. They were able to tell me that my ceilings used to be higher than they are currently, and that what was thought to be rot was actually a part of the old ceiling (what a relief that was finding out that I DIDN'T have wood rot in my attic). Most recently, Hirsch and Son replaced two old doors and added a third door to lthe interior rooms. Since the house has settled over the years and the doorways weren't totally squared, they had to get new doors and custom fit them to the doorways. They were even able to widen one of the doorways before putting the door on. It took longer than expected, but they got the job done and stayed on budget. When I hired Hirsch and Son to work on my attic, they were able save money on the job by buying lumber that was less expensive (due to cosmetic flaws). I was made aware of this and the savings were taken off of the price of the job. That's a huge weight off of my mind that if a job ends up finishing under budget, that what's left over WON'T simply be pocketed. Needless to say that I have more projects planned for my house, and that Hirsch and Son will be the ones hired to do the work! Hire them! You'll be glad that you did!
They did a great job on my basement renovation and were able to fit me into their schedule quickly. Prices were very reasonable and Dustin was great to work with. Would definitely hire again for future projects.
Dustin and his dad were incredible to work with for our deck project. They fixed framing to pass inspection, laid Trex deck boards, and installed railings and a gate. He gave us a start date, stuck to it, and completed the project in a week.
Absolutely awesome to work with. Great quality work, excellent communication and priced extremely fair.
Excellent experience with Dustin, very professional and meticulous. We got exactly what we were looking for on a deck railing project. The price was more than fair.
