Three acres, one day, and the flower beds still got attention. That April 2023 review is the most concrete thing on this company's record: a crew that worked through the day on a full property clean-up, addressed "numerous odds and quirky ends of our property," and charged what the homeowner called a fair price. Peter Hurd runs Hurdscapes out of Westport and says he grew up between there and Dartmouth, starting the business after more than 13 years in the landscaping industry. What the company lists runs wider than mowing — landscape design, custom stone masonry including the restoration of traditional New England farm walls, stone and cobblestone driveways, field restoration and brush clearing, power washing, and snow plowing in winter. The reviews back the range rather than any one specialty. In October 2022 a homeowner who had recently moved to Massachusetts described the crew trenching a gas line from an in-ground tank to a backup generator — sand fill, cover, reseeding and levelling included — alongside routine grounds maintenance. In April 2023 another had an 18-year-old azalea transplanted and said the garden was left looking better than before. Two separate reviewers say they have used Hurdscapes since it started out. The thing to know before calling is how small and how old the written record is: ten reviews, all from 2022 and 2023, sitting under a 5.0 average across 14 Google ratings. Nothing has been added in three years, so the current picture is unwritten. The one piece of criticism is mild and specific — a 2022 client wanted more judgment used on how often the grass got cut during a dry spell. For seasonal maintenance, large cleanups, stonework and the jobs that fall between trades on the South Coast, the praise here is consistent and the paper trail is thin. Ask for recent references before a big project.
