Hurley Painting Company

Two homeowners have written about Hurley Painting Company, and both wrote at length. In a December 2023 review, a customer described a six-day job covering most of their townhome and mentioned they were the second family in their complex to hire the crew — the neighbours compared notes, and both recommended them. A 2019 reviewer credited Jim with ceilings and walls "beautifully executed from beginning to end," attentive to shades, plaster seams and clean-up, finished on time and at exactly the price quoted before he started. The company works out of 145 Bartlett Rd in Winthrop, and BuildZoom names James Hurley as the owner. One thing to raise on the call: BuildZoom shows a Massachusetts Home Improvement Contractor registration, #170715, that expired on 14 January 2022 and which the directory says Mass.gov has at one point cancelled; BuildZoom re-checked it in April 2026 and still had it as expired. Massachusetts exempts interior-painting-only contractors from HIC registration, so a painter may genuinely not need one — but a registration that lapsed is a different fact from never having held one, and it is fair to ask which applies here. For a straightforward interior repaint in Winthrop, the two written accounts here are unusually specific and unusually positive. Ask about the current registration status, get proof of insurance, and ask for a couple of recent local references — there are two reviews behind this, not twenty.
