"Other companies didn't take the job because the role was very complex" — that line comes from a March 2025 Angi review, and it fits the work SJ CoverUp keeps getting called for: murals that have to flow from one wall to the next, papers with a repeat that has to match, ceilings that change height partway across a room. The shop runs out of 242 Main St in Winthrop and brands itself "of Boston." Sebastian Velez and Johan Pulgarin co-founded it, and by the company's own account Velez leads installations and the client side while Pulgarin handles process and quality control. The site says they established the Boston presence in 2025 after more than five years working in Southwest Florida, with over 200 projects completed across both, and that the business is fully insured. The work listed is wall preparation, installation on walls and ceilings, removal and repair, residential and commercial, out to Worcester, Lowell, Lawrence and Newburyport, plus Bedford and Concord in New Hampshire and Providence. Its directory profiles list Wallcovering Installers Association membership, and Thumbtack shows a background check for Sebastian Velez Jaramillo completed in March 2025. The rooms customers describe are small and finish-sensitive. A powder room refreshed this May; a bedroom finished in a day and a half in late March; a dormered bathroom in an April 2025 review, where the ceiling heights varied and the homeowner had chosen a paper with a match; in a June 2025 job, a dining room and an accent wall in the family room. One homeowner supplied her own paper and said the pair arrived on time with a table and all the materials and tools. Another, in a February 2026 review, said they checked her wall mural's dimensions before she ordered it so the panels would line up. A Thumbtack customer in September 2025 wrote that they stayed long past when anyone else would to finish in one day. Google sits at 5.0 across 9 ratings and Thumbtack at 5.0 across 11. One job went the other way. A September 2025 Angi review gives one star: the wall was not prepared right, the install was terrible, the wallpaper overlapped, and the customer says the owner was rude and blamed the wallpaper and the wall. That review is the 8% one-star behind the 4.7 on Angi — and behind the matching 4.7 on HomeAdvisor, whose page is a copy of the Angi profile carrying the same twelve review cards, so the two profiles are one set of customers rather than two. Two smaller things to square. Angi's profile self-reports six years of experience while Thumbtack's reports one year in business; the company's own story — five-plus years in Southwest Florida, Boston from 2025 — sits between them. And one of the five-star cards on Angi is posted under the name "Johan P.", the co-owner's name on the company's website. For a single room where the paper is the whole point — a mural, a repeat that has to line up, a powder room you want done in a day — this is a two-man crew customers name by first name and say they would hire again. Before booking, ask who is doing the wall preparation, settle the wall-repair scope before the paper is ordered, and ask how they handle seams that open up later.
