J & R Seamless Gutters is a gutter installer; its BBB profile describes it as offering seamless gutter installation. A recent customer says water was coming into their basement before new gutters went in, and none has come in since John and his team completed the job, even through heavy rain. That customer also says they painted underneath the gutters before installing them because the homeowner wanted a darker color. A 2025 customer said John was friendly, said he worked to get them the best price, and said estimates were free. A 2026 customer hired the company to remove ice dams and stopped the work partway because the workers were hitting the ice with hammers and the house was shaking. That customer said dents and chipped paint later showed on the gutters and a roofer found damaged shingles and drip edge, that John promised three times to come out and did not show, and that when he did come he denied the damage was theirs. The BBB gives the business a C+ grade and lists one complaint. Connecticut lists its home improvement contractor registration, HIC.0705722, as active, held by J&R Seamless Gutters LLC.
We are extremely happy with our new gutters! Before they were installed, water was coming into our basement. Since John and his team completed the job, we've had absolutely no water come in, even with the historic rainfall we've recently experienced. John and his crew were responsive, professional, efficient, and truly cared about doing the job right. They respected all of our wishes throughout the project and even went above and beyond by taking the time to paint underneath the gutters before installing them since we wanted a darker color. The quality of their workmanship and attention to detail exceeded our expectations. We highly recommend J&R Seamless Gutters!!
He told me he was fully insured and that they would remove my ice dams without causing any damage. He told me he would be here while the job was being done, but they came and started without him. They were hacking away at the ice with hammers and the house was shaking so I made them stop before finishing. I felt much more comfortable with just the raking. Once the snow melted, I noticed dents and paint chipping on the gutters. Mind you, I just had the house painted the summer before this winter so the paint on the gutters was fresh! I let it slide because I thought I could just paint over it, but then I had a roofer look at a skylight on another part of the house and while on the roof he noticed that the shingles had also been damaged as well as an area of the drip edge where they had been hammering. Mind you I have a new roof in good condition! I was displeased at this point, but when I made John aware of the damage, he promised to come out three times and never showed. When he finally did show up he denied that they had anything to do with the damage and told me that they had removed ice dams in other locations. When he had come out to look at the job, I pointed out the bay window, which was leaking, above which the worst of the ice dam was! And I was here when his workers were hammering away, and I know they were working on the same spot where the damage was. He just does not want to pay for the damage, given how extensive it is. This guy has no integrity when something goes wrong. I would not do business with him. I'm sure he's fine if everything goes right, but sometimes things don't go right. He seems really nice before he takes the job and makes a lot of promises, but he just wants the sale and doesn't care about the quality of the job. My other concern is I'm a single woman trying to take care of my house by myself. There is no man here and I feel like he feels like he can take advantage of that and there are no consequences. Pictures attached Update: he shouldn't even be working. His license expired more than three years ago. Pictures attached
