J. Clarke Painting

Jack Clarke learned to paint in Ireland, in a family of painters — his father and grandfather before him — and by his own account has been working at it here for more than 22 years. J Clarke Painting covers Boston and the near suburbs, from Beacon Hill and the South End out to Brookline, Newton, Wellesley and the South Shore, doing interior and exterior painting, wood refinishing and Fine Paints of Europe finishes. The most recent account is from December 2025, when a homeowner wrote that Allan and the crew arrived at the scheduled time, prepped the room before painting and cleaned up at the end, and that they planned to hire them again. Houzz carries a 4.9 average across 11 ratings with ten project photos from Brookline and Boston, and lists cabinet refinishing alongside the interior and exterior work. For interior work where the finish is the point — trim, cabinets, a stained-wood match, a Fine Paints of Europe job — this is a small owner-run shop with decades behind it. Ask who will be running your crew, and ask to see photos from a recent job of the same kind, since most of the written accounts date from 2018.
