J. Freire Electrical Contractor

J. Freire Electrical Contractor is Jose R. Freire's one-person electrical outfit in New Bedford, holding an active, state-verified Massachusetts electrician license. BuildZoom's own scoring puts him in the top 16% of the state's 139,000-plus licensed contractors, with a verified badge on that same license. Public permit records list 36 projects, 10 of them within the last three years and almost all electrical work: a September 2025 permit in Taunton covered $8,600 of rough-and-snake wiring with smoke detectors and a bathroom fan; a January 2025 permit in Brockton was a 100-amp service rough-in; and a February 2023 job in Taunton took over second-floor apartment wiring from a previous electrician for $5,500. Typical permit value runs around $1,650 — mostly smaller residential jobs. BuildZoom separately flags a Massachusetts Home Improvement Contractor registration under his name as inactive, noting state records once listed it as cancelled — worth asking about if a project needs that broader registration rather than electrical work alone. He also holds a Massachusetts Disadvantaged Business Enterprise certification and a BBB A+ rating. For straightforward electrical work — wiring, panel upgrades, rough-ins — the permit history here is real and recent.
