McSharry & Sons tells homeowners it has built on the South Shore for over 50 years; the Better Business Bureau records the LLC behind the name as started and incorporated on 8/7/2024, with one employee and "Years in Business: 2." The way the company squares that is on its own About page — John McSharry, the partner and master carpenter, has more than five decades in the trade, and the business he now runs with his son Tom and son-in-law Alex Lueling is the new vehicle for an old set of hands. The credentials check out. Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration is active, held by J McSharry & Sons LLC. Its BBB grade is an A, though the page also states it is not accredited — and the reason BBB gives for the grade is length of time in operation, which is a curious basis for a two-year-old file. The work is whole-house scale: custom new builds, additions, accessory dwelling units, kitchen and bathroom remodels, basement finishing and siding, run out of Norwell. What's missing is anyone else's account of it. No customer reviews appear on the BBB profile or anywhere else, so every claim about craftsmanship comes from the company itself. That makes the questions concrete rather than sceptical: ask which recent South Shore builds are John's and which are the LLC's, ask for addresses and homeowners you can call from the past two years, and confirm who carries the registration on your permit.
