John A Lavorgna & Co is a design-build remodeler that says it has served New Haven, Fairfield and Litchfield Counties since 1961, with a showroom and office where remodeling projects start. The company describes itself as family-owned and operated. A recent Google customer said they added cabinets to the adjacent wall of their kitchen: David came out and measured the space, they met with him in the showroom, and the finishes they chose fit their budget. That customer praised the cabinetry and the installation. A 2023 customer planning a kitchen remodel said John Lavorgna zeroed in on a kitchen layout for their family, and that he and his wife arranged showroom visits at times when the customer could find a sitter. That 2023 customer also said it took some time to work out an estimate, and in the end took a piecemeal approach instead. A 2023 Google customer said the owner spent an hour at the house measuring and taking pictures for a bathroom remodel, then never called with plans, even after the customer went to his office to go over the same things again. Connecticut lists its home improvement contractor registration, HIC.0533559, held by John A Lavorgna & Co Inc, as inactive.

We recently added additional cabinets to the the adjacent wall of our kitchen. David came out and measured our space and we met with him in the showroom. They had a wide selection of finishes and style to choose from that fit our budget. The quality of the cabinetry is terrific with the new hardware and the installation was top notch. Thank you guys for a job well done!
John and his company came highly recommended. We were very pleased with their work.
The owner came to the house to discuss remodeling the bathroom. It would be a total gut job with new shower, remove the tub, had a window, new double sinks and new closet. He was there 1 hour measuring and taking pictures. We talked about two different plans. Over 2 months later he never called. I called and there were excuses made about not having my phone number. He asked that we go to his office which I did. We went over the same things we had already discussed. He said I would get a call with plans. That was over two months ago and I never heard a thing. I don’t care how busy a business is (which that was never discussed), a follow up would be the professional thing to do.
Of all the contractors we engaged with for estimates when we were planning our kitchen remodel, John Lavorgna offered the highest quality product, and most efficiently zeroed in on the best kitchen layout for our family. His demeanor, professionalism, and flexibility were outstanding. He and his wife graciously made concessions to accommodate my wife and I to visit their showroom at times that we could find a sitter to watch our kids. He was super-busy and it took some time to work out an estimate, but that is fairly typical these days with good contractors. John offers full turn-key solutions which will appeal to many in the market for a new kitchen. If we were at a later stage in our lives and not as willing or able to do a lot of legwork ourselves, we would have certainly chosen Lavorgna. As it is, we found it better to take a piecemeal approach, hopefully we don’t regret it.
