John Caruso Landscaping has worked out of Burlington for a long stretch — the company's own history traces it back more than 50 years, growing out of what it describes as a love of gardening, and the Better Business Bureau lists it at 56 years in business. It's a broad outfit today: beyond core landscape construction, Houzz and the company's own site credit it with patios, retaining walls, sod, sprinkler systems, tree removal and pruning, excavation, masonry work and asphalt driveways, serving Burlington and towns from Lexington and Waltham to Arlington and Billerica. The review history is thin and split. In a 2025 review, a customer who said they'd used the business for years after being referred through personal connections called the work pristine and pointed to the company's two-decade-plus history as proof of consistency. A short 2021 review just says 'Good.' On the other side, a 2023 review raised concerns about the owner's temperament without describing a specific job, and in a 2016 review, a customer who'd used the company for three years said flowers planted just before a forecasted frost died within two days and that a replacement visit was promised. Google's own tally reflects that split: the business's main Google listing shows a 1.9-star average from 13 ratings, and a separate Google listing shows just a single 1-star rating — figures that don't reconcile to one number. The Better Business Bureau gives it an A+ grade, though it isn't BBB-accredited. Given how few and how old the reviews are, it's worth asking for recent references directly rather than leaning on them alone. Established and broad in what it offers, but the public review history here is too thin and too old to settle the question on its own — line up a few current references before booking.
