Verified record
Johnson Hardwood Floors is a Brockton hardwood floor refinishing and installation business that, per its HomeAdvisor profile, has been operating since 1992 and offers service in Spanish. The written record runs 2014 to 2017, and it splits cleanly along one line: the actual floor work draws real praise, but dealing with the owner afterward doesn't always go smoothly. In a 2016 review, a homeowner described installer Earl and a helper removing an old rug and refinishing red oak floors in two days with no mess to clean up; a 2014 review described Earl adapting mid-job — switching from a repair to a full floor replacement when the repair proved too costly to match — while explaining each step. Another 2015 review said a refinish came out better than the original factory finish, with the only complaint being an oil-based finish odor that took about a week to fade. On the other side, a 2017 review said the owner, Mr. Johnson, promised free scratch touch-ups within a year, then repeatedly missed the appointments and eventually hung up on the customer. A 2016 review described rooms and kitchen cabinets left unsealed and messy after the customer negotiated a lower price, with the owner attributing the skipped cleanup to that discount. A 2014 review said they weren't told in advance that part of the payment needed to be in cash. HomeAdvisor's own summary of its 64 ratings (4.4★) describes the pattern the same way — mostly positive, with a few older complaints about post-job customer service and cleanup. Given that pattern, it's worth getting any touch-up or cleanup commitments in writing, and confirming payment terms, before the job starts.

A little confusing about the process, but once squared away they do excellent work and the floors are perfect.
The two workers who showed up were professional and did a great job, but the owner (Mr Johnson) was hard to deal with after the job; promised free scratch touch-ups within a year, then repeatedly could not keep the appointments and eventually hung up on the customer.
After asking for a lower price than the quote, rooms and kitchen cabinets were left unsealed and every room was a mess; customer had to clean the whole house and stay out three extra nights. Owner said the cleaning was skipped because a lower price was requested.
Earl was quick and professional; he and his helper removed old rug and refinished red oak floors, completed in two days with no mess to clean up.
Prompt and efficient, scheduled the refinishing immediately, floor came out better than the original factory finish; only complaint was the intense oil-based finish odor took about a week to subside.
