- Post-job follow-up — some older complaints cite customer service and cleanup
Johnson Hardwood Flooring has been refinishing, installing, and repairing hardwood floors out of Brockton, MA since 1992, by its own account, and the listing states that Spanish is spoken along with English. On HomeAdvisor, it holds a 4.4 rating across 64 reviews — a real track record, mostly positive, though a handful of older reviews raise complaints about post-job customer service and cleanup rather than the floor work itself. A single Google review adds a 5-star rating, though that's too small a sample to weigh much on its own. The company also turns up in Plymouth County flooring directories at the same Brockton address, which lines up with the HomeAdvisor listing. One thing worth flagging: a separately listed "Johnson Hardwood Floor Service" out of Dorchester carries a different phone number and a different founding date (2004, not 1992). It's not clear whether that's a related operation or simply another business with a similar name, so don't assume the two are the same when checking references. For hardwood refinishing, installation, or repair work in the Brockton area, this looks like an established option with a real review base behind it — just ask directly about their process for post-completion cleanup and follow-up, since that's the one recurring theme in the less flattering reviews.

A little confusing about the process, but once squared away they do excellent work and the floors are perfect.

The two workers who showed up were professional and did a great job, but the owner (Mr Johnson) was hard to deal with after the job; promised free scratch touch-ups within a year, then repeatedly could not keep the appointments and eventually hung up on the customer.

After asking for a lower price than the quote, rooms and kitchen cabinets were left unsealed and every room was a mess; customer had to clean the whole house and stay out three extra nights. Owner said the cleaning was skipped because a lower price was requested.

Earl was quick and professional; he and his helper removed old rug and refinished red oak floors, completed in two days with no mess to clean up.

Prompt and efficient, scheduled the refinishing immediately, floor came out better than the original factory finish; only complaint was the intense oil-based finish odor took about a week to subside.
