Jose R Flores builds under his own name out of Everett, and the paper trail is longer than most one-name operations ever accumulate: 156 permitted projects listed on BuildZoom, covering kitchen and bathroom remodels, basement conversions, whole-home renovations and additions. What customers have said is another matter. Exactly one rating exists anywhere on file — a single star, left in 2021, over tile and backsplash work the homeowner said had to be redone from scratch. That one dated account is the whole of the written history, which means there is a long list of jobs and almost nothing from the people who paid for them. BuildZoom lists a Massachusetts construction supervisor licence, CS-096580, in his personal name. That is the directory's own claim rather than a registry check, and a construction supervisor licence is a different credential from the home improvement contractor registration Massachusetts requires for nonstructural residential work — worth asking for both, in writing, before anything is signed. The number BuildZoom puts at the top of the page, a score of 89, comes from permit history rather than from anything a customer said, and it sits below the 95 that BuildZoom itself suggests homeowners hold out for. If you are considering him, the permits are the useful lever: ask for addresses and references from the last year or two, and confirm current registration and insurance directly with the state.

replace kitchen floor and backsplash, as well as paint the kitchen and dining area $3,500 — I contracted Jose Flores to lay down some tiles in my kitchen as well as put up the backsplash using glass subway tiles. If i could give him less that one star, I would. Bottom line, the tiles were not laid correctly since he neglected to ensure that subfloor was adequate. The tiles are all cracked and many have unglued. It is a total do over. He did a very sloppy job on the backsplash. He never cleaned up the grout, and he did not paint the kitchen window sill as agreed. Furthermore, did not replace the baseboard in the kitchen and I could not find it anywhere. I asked hime on multiple occasions to come and fix the sloppy and inadequate job and he has refused. I paid him very good money for the job.
