Verified record
Jose R Flores is an Everett, Massachusetts contractor doing kitchen, bathroom and general remodeling work, licensed individually as a Massachusetts construction supervisor. The written record is limited to a single review — a detailed, negative one. In a 2021 BuildZoom review, a customer who hired Flores for about $3,500 to replace a kitchen floor and backsplash and paint the kitchen and dining area gave one star, describing defective tile work and reporting that Flores refused to return to address it. Separately, public permit records show a substantial volume of work — 156 permitted projects on file, giving Flores a BuildZoom permit-derived score in the 30th percentile among Massachusetts contractors, a measure of permit activity rather than customer satisfaction. His Massachusetts construction supervisor license, held in his own name, is active with the state. With only one customer account on file and it a serious complaint about tile work and follow-up, it's worth asking directly about that job and getting recent references before hiring Flores for kitchen or bathroom tile work in particular.

replace kitchen floor and backsplash, as well as paint the kitchen and dining area $3,500 — I contracted Jose Flores to lay down some tiles in my kitchen as well as put up the backsplash using glass subway tiles. If i could give him less that one star, I would. Bottom line, the tiles were not laid correctly since he neglected to ensure that subfloor was adequate. The tiles are all cracked and many have unglued. It is a total do over. He did a very sloppy job on the backsplash. He never cleaned up the grout, and he did not paint the kitchen window sill as agreed. Furthermore, did not replace the baseboard in the kitchen and I could not find it anywhere. I asked hime on multiple occasions to come and fix the sloppy and inadequate job and he has refused. I paid him very good money for the job.
