JP Electric and Son

I cannot recommend JP Electric. The electrical work itself was good, and I agreed with the electrician’s recommendations. The switches needed to be replaced, the existing lighting was outdated, and replacing the recessed lights was a sensible recommendation. My issue was with the estimate and the way the pricing was presented. I had already committed to a $247 service/assessment charge when I received the proposal for the work. The estimate did not separately show parts and labor. For example, a recessed light that I found selling for approximately $22 was presented at approximately $295. When I questioned this, I was told that labor was rolled into that amount. The total job was approximately $1,450 and took about four hours, including travel time to obtain parts that were not on the truck. Based on the retail prices I found, I estimate the actual parts totaled around $150. The estimate made inexpensive parts appear substantially more expensive because labor and markup was embedded in the individual line-item prices rather than clearly identified. When I questioned the pricing, there was considerable back-and-forth rather than a straightforward explanation. I also felt somewhat trapped. I had already spent $247, the switches were broken and needed to be replaced, and the lighting needed updating. Starting over with another company meant potentially losing the $247 without knowing whether I would ultimately save money. The work itself was good. My complaint is not about the quality of the electrical work. I felt the estimate was deceptive and the pricing lacked transparency. For that reason, I cannot recommend JP Electric.

Very efficient, Very nice and right on time - actually even a bit early. The fan looks and works great and they left the worksite spotless.

JP Electric is a company that a homeowner can rely on. They know their business, are professional and responsive; a company you can really count on.

I had very old, broken & no longer working large, outdoor lighting units removed. Aaron did a great job. From the office folks to the service technician - a great experience. Doris, answering calls to scheduling services, was friendly, efficient with initial, confirmation and follow-up communications and is a wonderful voice representing the company... 5 stars! Aaron B arrived on time, worked efficiently, totally professional, left not a speck of anything, and he was really nice! Another 5 stars! I already have an appointment for the next job.
