Keith Townsend is a Cohasset carpenter whose reviews tell two different stories depending on what you ask about — the work itself, or getting it scheduled. On the finish-work side, a 2018 Angi review described tearing down the wall between a kitchen and dining room to create a passthrough, calling the result exactly what they wanted and on the budget they'd been quoted; a 2017 HomeAdvisor review said a backdoor landing, stairs, footings and skirt job was done well in under a day; and a 2013 Angi review described a kitchen and bath renovation with new windows and siding where the crew coordinated smoothly with the electrician and plumber. Several reviewers from 2013 to 2018 also praised Keith's own communication — a 2017 review said he always got back to them the same day, even just to say he was waiting on a subcontractor. Scheduling is where multiple reviewers ran into trouble. A 2017 Angi review described a bathroom remodel that took nine months because subcontractors did excellent work when they showed up but weren't scheduled in a timely way, leaving the homeowner to chase them directly by phone. Two 2018 HomeAdvisor reviews are more serious: one described a project that never started on the agreed date, with no-shows from Keith or his crew, and the other said money was collected and, after repeated attempts to reach him, no start date was ever set. His Massachusetts construction supervisor license is currently expired — the state registry lists it "Null and Void." Given what several of these reviews describe, it's worth asking for a firm start date and a written schedule before paying anything, and confirming his licensing status directly before signing on for a larger renovation.
I hired the pro and he was expected to complete the project on the week of February 19 but this did not happen due to the following: - The pro did not begin the work the day we had agreed. - Never did the pro or his employees/sub contractors show up on time. No respect for time. The pro made my wife and I waste time waiting at home for inspection but did not show up or call to provide any update. -He did not pay for the permit, I came to learn it from the city after I fired the pro on May 4, 2018 and wanted to get the project completed by another pro. -The worst communication. No project plan. -A lot of excuses. -Overall disappointing, I would not recommend the pro.
He collected money and after numerous attempts to contact there is still no date set for the project.

Keith and his crew tore down the walls between our kitchen and dining room and created a passthru. It looks exactly as we wanted and was the budget we were quoted!
Our bathroom remodel took 9 months to complete. Keith's subs and employees did excellent work when they came, but Keith did not schedule them in a timely manner. As a result, weeks would go by with no progress unless I called him and often I had to call the subs myself.
